Great sleeping bag....especially if you are tall. Very roomy for a mummy bag...which is why I purchased it. I can't stand how small some are. (I am 5'5" and 140 lbs. and this is really roomy) This seems exceptionally well made, has all the bells and whistles of more expensive bags and stuffs to a reasonable size. I plan on using this car camping throughout Alaska in May/June where the temps vary from 25-75 degrees. Lightweight so I think it will cover the range without being too hot. It will be used with a pad under and in a tent. Tried it outside on a 30 degree day and I was toasty and felt no wind seeping in (on snowy ground with medium wind) and could tighten up the hood end so it is like a cocoon in there. If you are worried about the temp rating, I would be sure to include a good sleeping bag pad as the ground cold probably would migrate through the bottom. We also own the -20 Ledge River and love it, but that one is significantly bulkier than this one and probably weighs 2 lbs more too. First time we have bought Ledge, and I am glad we did!
So this sleeping bag is fantastic my only beef is that the zipper stops at the calf and your feet are stuck. I often get too hot in the mummy style bags which I love when it's really cold but can be frustrating when you get too hot. sticking my feet out of the bag will often do the trick to cool me off but this zipper stops at the calf so it's very difficult to do that. I wanted a warm bag and this bag definitely fits the bill and is well made and the hood is super nice as well however my feet ROAST and I will likely only use this bag if it's going to be VERY cold out.
This was purchased primarily for my boy scout and I on troop campouts. Highly recommended as the best balance between size/weight and price that can easily be packed in standard frame backpacks. Don't spend the extra $150+ on high-end down backpacks that may be slightly smaller to pack. Shell is high-quality lightweight nylon. Slept very comfortably on campout that was <40F.
This is a very good entry level tent for the money. The stitching, zippers, poles, and other materials all seem to be high quality and the design is well thought out. The rain fly is taped and sealed which was nice to see in a tent in the Recluse's price range.
Overall, the tent is comfortable and suitable for two people with gear. You'll only be able to fit three people into this tent if your gear is stored outside.
We've used this tent in fairly heavy rainstorms and have not experience any water problems. It is breathable, but not drafty and is light weight enough to use backpacking.
There were no setup instructions included in the packaging, however, we were able to complete the setup in about 10 minutes without trouble.
It's hard to believe it's possible to get a value like this. This sleeping bag is thick, soft, and light. It includes features that really help retain heat. It may not be a household name brand, but quality appears to be very good. I purchased this bag in preparation for boy scout camping and have been told to expect some cool nights. I doubt it will get down anywhere near the temperature rating of this bag, but it looks like it will serve me well for any cool nights I'm likely to see. Drawstring around the face and the insulated roll around the neck area should work well for trapping body heat. Small storage pocket for glasses, flashlight or whatever else you might want right by you is a nice feature.
Cute sleeping bags for younger children (my kids grew out of them by age 8). Very warm and cozy outside. The outer fabric is very slippery, so it slides around a lot in the tent (a lot of sleeping bags seem to be like this, though).
Bought this for myself since I am a smaller female adult. It was long enough but not very roomy in width. Other than lack of width I thought this bag was great. It is super light and small to pack and carry. It kept me perfectly warm in 32 degree mountain evenings-I haven't gotten to try it out in colder weather yet. Seems well-made and feels plush and comfortable.
i am new at backpacking and this was my new bag for the trip. it wieghed in at 3.8 lbs and a little bulkier than i thought. it had to ride on the outside of the pack. i was sleeping in a hammock tent in about 40 dagrees out and i woke up cold quit a few times. i admit i am skinny and get cold easliy but i thought the bag would be a little warmer. on solid ground i am sure it would be much better but the bottom side let air in and get chilly. we were hiking in bishop at about 10- 11,000 feet. o yeah the zipper handle broke off the second night but was able to put back on and rebend tab
I'm 60 years old and have been camping my whole life. These are nice bags. The cotton lining is a big plus over the slippery nylon of others I've used. Another nice feature is the zipper system using separate bottom and side zippers. Open the bottom and stick your feet out if you get too warm. Speaking of warm, these bags are. Used them on a recent motorcycle trip and they were actually too warm for the evening. Remember these are 4 pound bags and are larger for packing. They have other nice features too, including a velcro tab and drawstring at the neck. The ONLY complaint I have is the lack of ties or straps to keep them rolled for stuffing in the sack provided and that's pretty easily fixed. Great Sleeping Bags!!
Took these bags (5 of us) into a remote area. Worked well - too hot at 45 degrees - but fine at 30. No zipper on inside which made it difficult to close completely while inside. Had to do while partially inside and then slide down in. No great issue - just an easy one to fix.
This is a good quality medium duty sleeping bag. Easy in and out (for an old man). For cold weather, 30 and below, I would add a couple of reflective blankets, above and below. You will not want this bag directly on the ground in any temperature. I have used this light weight bag in both moderate and cold conditions. I like it well enough that it is the only bag I use when camping and backpacking..
Our grandson wanted us to have a tent camp out when we visited him in California. We didn't want to carry sleeping bags on the plane, and we didn't want to put a lot of money into the gear because we no longer go overnight camping. These sleeping bags were just what we needed. The quality was better than the price would indicate. They were roomy and comfortable, and just the right weight for a cool Cali night. Nice, breathable material and good zippers. We had them shipped directly to our daughter's home, and left them for the next visit. They stuff down well, and don't take up much room in the guest room closet.
