    • Great panels
      Reviewed at http://www.goalzero.com/

I bought two panels about three months ago and have loved using just the one for now. I wanted to get more power out so I tried to chain them together but the cords are too short no matter how I try to orient them.

    • Great idea, poorly executed.

The cords for chaining the panels together are too short. This makes it very awkward to get them into a position to actually charge. More of a novelty than something I would depend on.

    • Waste of time and money

The first week with the solar panel was decent. Then it completely stopped working. Won't charge a phone, won't charge an external battery. I left it in direct sunlight for 8 hours this weekend to make sure, and it added zero battery life to anything. The worst part is bringing it on a trip and figuring out halfway thru that it is not doing anything.

      Verified Purchase

This was a purchase so that my wife could charge her e reader, nope not gonna happen, it will not charge a cell phone that needs a steady current to charge, but it will charge the power pack that will charge my phone and her e book, and that works for us at this time. If you want this for something like a Samsung S5 or S7 Nope, but you can charge a power pack that will charge your phone. for me It works, put it on the dash of the boat charging the power pack, then just switched to the power pack to charge the phone.

    • Good solar panel
      Reviewed at http://www.goalzero.com/

This seems to be a good solar panel. I purchased it mainly with the idea of being able to recharge mine and my wife's iPhone 5's when out camping. Initially, I couldn't get it to work, so I called Goal Zero customer service. First person I got on the phone told me it should work fine and gave me little other instruction. Tried it and it still didn't work. Called back and got a different customer service person. This lady walked me through different things that need to be done, then it worked. If you have an iPhone 5 understand that you need to put the panel out in the direct sun, let it warm up a bit first. Then put the phone into airplane mode and/or shut it down completely. Doing all that, it will recognize the power source and recharge. Or you can just use the Guide 10 Plus and recharge that.

    • Worked like a charm!
      Reviewed at http://www.goalzero.com/

I bought the Nomad 7 together with the lighthouse lantern this summer. I found that charging the lantern and then using the USB on the lantern to change our iPhone4, iPod, Samsung Wave and Kobo gave a steady stream of power and successfully kept everything charged. We relied on the lantern/panel setup for two weeks without an issue. I did find that the power stream from the panel directly to the phone was not sufficient (the power stream was not steady, expecially on partly cloudy or cloudy days). I highly recommend this setup as a budget way to power a few small items and give you hours of light at night at the same time.

    • New N7-22A Package
      Reviewed at http://www.goalzero.com/

I purchased my first Nomad 7 with guide 10 in 2011 year. I keep it in the pouch behind my seat in the truck. This thing has been so handy and reliable for charging my phone, MP3 player, and blutooth headset. The light was ok, so I added a Luna LED...sweet! Bought a firefly...awsome and bolt..fantastic. But alas no place to store my lights, cables, USB car charger and spare AA batteries, until the new N7 design that has a full size mesh pouch. Yep you guessed it, I bought a new Nomad 7 to hold all my gear and set my wife up with the system that has served me so well this year.

    • Backpacking on John Muir Trail
      Reviewed at http://www.goalzero.com/

My son bought the Goal Zero Nomad 7 and showed it to me when we started the John Muir Trail. He brought 2 cameras and we had 2 iPhones (for GPS). These charging panels even charged our batteries in the rain! I was amazed at how quickly our batteries would get charged. We never had any power shortages throughout our 3-week hike. I recommend these panels to anyone going into the wilderness. Strap these outside your pack and charge as much as you want. For backpackers, weight is an important issue and these panels are perfect.

    • Q:

"Can this product be adapted for use with the LED strip lighting that requires electricity, or any other low voltage item?"

      • A:

There isn’t any way to connect the nomad 7 to these lights without going through a battery pack. You would need a Sherpa 50 or something bigger. Let us know if there is anything else that we can do for you have a great day.
