Just to avoid any confusion, this case is NOT for the iPad 2. For the original iPad, however, it's a fantastic value and well worth picking up. I'm not actually certain it's genuine leather, but it's soft to the touch and in my opinion, it doesn't look cheap or "fake". It's sufficiently padded on all sides, and though the cover *could* be slightly more durable, it will be more than enough for most people. I bought the red one, and it's a bright, vibrant red, just as shown in the photo. The magnetic clasp holds really well, and it's securely sewn into the cover. You won't have to worry about it coming loose and falling off. The overall craftmanship is decent, too - no loose stitches or loose threads sticking out and threatening to unravel. If you need an inexpensive backup case, or if you're just looking for something functional and don't want to have to pay ridiculous prices, this case is a great option.
I had a thin rubber -like cover that I liked, but there was no place to hold a stylus and it didn't offer much padding. This cover is thick and padded and has already prevented damage when my ipad fell to the floor ( twice! ) . It also has 2 slots for clipping in styluses , as well as what looks to be a business card holder. The only down-side is that it is thick, which makes it easy to carry by hand, but not as easy to put in a case or small pocketbook. With the cover closed, it measures about 1 inch thick. Still, my main goal was to have protection and stylus holder; it fulfills both those requirements excellently!
I was thinking that I was buying a throw away case just to try out. This case is actually well worth the cost. I really enjoy the padded cover and the case offers above-par protection for the iPad. If you are careful with your iPad, and not reckless, then this case is going to work just fine for you.
