I purchased this because I am HORRIBLE with directions- I mean horrible!! I love how this works, just put in the address and let it do it's thing. It's so wonderful!!! I have used it over and over and if for some reason it has not worked or has a hiccup for a few minutes I feel very lost without it. My new car even has OnStar yet I still prefer to use this. I love the size too. It fits in my purse and I can take it even if I'm not driving. The voice command is very nice too. It tells me where to turn so I don't always have to look at the screen; very nice for busy roads where taking my eyes off the road is not the wisest decision.

With all the options today, you may want to look for a more user friendly unit. The unti works ok but it takes some time getting used to. I do not know how old the maps are but I am going to guess that at least 3 years old, and I have not been able to find how to update them, the site does not give much guidance. So, if you live in an area where construction of highways, overpasses, new neighborhoods and commerce are an everyday thing, this unit might get you in trouble For the money, its ok and more if your travels take you crosscountry...

I have purchased ViaMichelin X-930 GPS Navigation System for my wife several months ago. She is constantly on the road visiting the patients all around New York City. Prior to purchasing the GPS I have been conscripted as remote navigation system akin of On-Star. It was interfering with my work to no end. Looking through several different models I wanted her to have her own on-board navigation system that would be easy to use and fool-proof. X-930 was the clear answer. With minimal training anyone who can use the cell phone will be able to navigate through the basic menus of this GPS. The direction are clear cut and the possibility of mistaking Left Turn for Right is impossible since the direction change is repeated at least twice. In case the wrong turn was made the GPS will re-calculate the route changes to alow for the drivers blunder within 5 seconds. The triangulation is very accurate due to the software package (actually developed for Magellan GPS). I have recently purchased two more ViaMichelin X-930 GPS Navigation Systems for myself and my cousin. I'm ready to recommend this particular GPS to anyone who needs an inexpensive and easy solution to navigation.

This device is very good I recommended to everyone who has a low budget. It tells exactly where you have to turn. The screen is very understandable and its very easy to use. It is worth what it costs and more.

Normally I find the reviews section here on overstock to be a disappointment saver. Unfortunately this time I let the reviewers lead me in a bad direction. If you have never owned a GPS than this may be a good purchase. If you are simply looking for something to help you get from point A to point B then this is a good purchase. However, if you are looking for an intuitive navigation system for your vehicle then I cannot recommend this. First, I'll tell you what it does do: 1) It mounts easily in your vehicle 2) It allows you to easily get directions from your specific GPS point (without entering a starting address) 3) It allows you to store frequent addresses and maintains a history of recently visited addresses. Here are its shortcomings: 1) It doesn't read you street names. It merely says "turn right" or "turn left". You are forced to look at the display for a street name. I am used to GPS systems I have used in the past to say "turn right on Holden in 1.2 miles" and then reminding you again as you get closer. This gives you no warning until you are within .1 mile of something when to turn. 2) It sends you out of the way many times. While it will get you to point "b" almost without fail -- often times it has me driving in circles and going considerably out of my way. I tested it by having it direct me to places that I knew how to get to. At first I thought I was learning a new back way to a favorite destination. Only to find out it was sending me in circles and doing unnecessary backtracking. 3) The bypass route feature isn't intuitive. It is a user friendly option -- but, the way I read this feature was that it could sense traffic conditions and route you a less traveled path. This isn't it at all -- it merely has a 'bypass route' option that you can choose and it will look for an alternative path. But, it doesn't consider traffic conditions in the slightest.

  • Great Value For Your $$$

This was a great purchase! This GPS Navigator has been a lifesaver and it's just amazing to me, how that lady in the box knows how to get EVERYWHERE!!! I recently moved cross country and without her, I would be LOST...LITERALLY! But this ViaMichelin GPS Navigator has all the features that the top rated navigators have, at a fraction of the price! It also has a color screen and you can magnify the size of the maps, which is great! Gives you a choice between shortest and quickest route, navigates around traffic and even tells you when you are over the speed limit! Then to top it all off, there are just so many local places, restaurants, gas stations, banks, etc installed in the unit, that she can teach you a ton of places to go for your basic needs and interests!!! The only thing is that the instructions aren't thorough, so you learn as you go along....But it ain't rocket science....Just GPS!!!

  • NIce for the Price

This product is nice for the price. It would be nice if it had voice recognition, but it works well just the way it is. The GPS is a little clunky and tends to audibly tell you to turn too early, but recalculates route automatically, so that is a plus. Also looking up an address takes a little getting used to. Overall, good product for the price.
