  • TomTom Software is weird
    Verified Purchase

The TomTom unit itself is fine; no complaints, although I haven't used voice commands yet. However, the TomTom sofware and map upgrades are so darn confusing! I work with computers and software all day, I'm a level II technician, and this just confused the heck out of me because the software wouldn't recognized the TomTom, (probably because I'd had a previous version installed for ANOTHER TomTom which I got rid of) and then it wants to charge me for map upgrades, when the packaging says Free Map Upgrades for a year. It was a mess. Going to try again with Windows 7 instead of Vista. Of course, doesn't work with Linux. Comeon TomTom, it's 1's and 0's over TCPIP, why complicate stuff so much? Is it your marketing department? (yes, it mostly always is the marketing department. Always making 'the world a better place'. Right) Still, it's a great little navigator!

  • Great Navogation- Poor Traffic Updates
    Verified Purchase

I love this unit for navigation purposes. This is my second Tom Tom and they are extremely user friendly. BUT...they are extremely misleading when it comes to the traffic update feature. They advertise free lifetime traffic updates!! "Know in advance when there are traffic congestions and delays. Warns you of accidents and slow moving traffic and automatically calculates a faster route!" Yeah..Right! What they fail to tell you is this service is supplied by a third party and that the coverage is EXTREMELY LIMITED. I live in the U.P. of Michigan and I found out (After weeks of research) that the closest traffic coverage to my area is about 600 miles away. The nearest coverage is not even close to places I travel, so I paid for the lifetime updates that I will NEVER use. Here is a word of advice. If you feel you'd like to have this service you need to check, double check and triple check the coverage area before throwing down the extra cash. I'm giving this three stars because of the incomplete coverage, the lack of tech support, and the ignorance of the techs.

  • Commercial Application
    Verified Purchase

7 Purchased for Commercial Application. 6 months into constatnt service and each unit is functioning well. This is a good choice in Tom Tom GPS, this model with the larger screen seems to be more desireable with employees. We have over 150 Tom Toms in use. In my opinion the only brand to consider. (And we have tried them all)
