Light, Loud, & Lovely
The Monoprice Streamline system arrived promptly and enclosed in some of the best speaker packaging I ever encountered, so the chance for damage via shipping is almost nil. The speakon cable used to connect the subwoofer unit with the satellite unit is just the right length for the required connection and has a velcro strap to discreetly secure it to the pole. The power cord is not lengthy (I use my own 20 ft. cord), but it gets the job done. I recommend the purchase of 16 gauge XLR cables to reduce EM & RF noise and retain the sound quality running through your cable lines, and that goes for ANY speaker. The highs are harsh, but considering the price point and how far reaching the audio field is, you can't objectively gripe about it. I don't have the tools to measure db levels (126dB maximum SPL), however; the speaker in my estimation is about 350-400 watts RMS. I DO NOT PUSH THE VOLUME ON ANY SPEAKER PASS 3 O'CLOCK. I own a pair of these (I purchased another unit from Monoprice via another vendor), and I can safely say I'm getting a good 750-1000 watts RMS (depending on your pre-amp) which is more than enough for almost all applications with crowds of 300 or less with the obvious exception being a high energy club or bar which may need the added thump of larger subs so the inebriated can "feel" the music. The unit is easy to carry & pack/store and not awkward to handle. Since I rarely use my heavy, active sub woofers anymore (being that pro grade 15 inch 2-way speaker units are more than ample these days), I find this array system to be light, loud, inexpensive, and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. My only complaints are that Monoprice didn't publish more specific, real world power ratings and make some bags or covers for their unit.
Good speakers, but overpriced
These speakers are okay, are they worth what Overstock charges? No. I'm not complaining too much because I was able to cash in my club O points for these speakers. So I got them for free. But looking online I found other sites that sell these speakers for half the price. The sound quality is decent, not what I would expect for a *** pair of speakers. Still, these were an upgrade from what I had before, which was nothing. Meh.
