Providing that you are NOT expecting the fidelity quality of your music as if your MP3 was plugged directly into the receiver, this is an excellent choice. I use this to listen to my smartphone ( Pandora, music, etc.) in a vehicle that is used for occasional longer trips. Around town it dosen't matter to me as local radio is good enough but it is nice to be able to integrate my smartphone for those longer trips. Sound quality is only so-so ( imagine normal but with pillows over the speakers). Good enough for my my purposes though, as I do not want to go to the expense of changing radios or expensive input wiring for this vehicle. ( And the FM broadcast gizmos set to "unused' FM stations do not work due to constant interference ). For the price, this adapter is a BARGAIN.... Just remember to keep your sound expections to 'basic listening' here and I think that most users will be more than satisfied with this adapter.
Love to listen to books on my iPad or phone on long drives. Without bluetooth or MP3 hookup in my car, this is my solution! Plugs into the headphone jack on the phone/iPad. Cord is about 3 feet long from Aux plug (the plug that goes into the "cigarette lighter" of the car) to the headset jack, plenty of length that it might reach the backseat. (I'd rather it be too long than too short.) The tuner display is in the middle of the cord, so you can actually see the channel you are tuning to - unlike a previous one I had that melted in the heat of the car and fell apart, I couldn't read the display as it was at the aux plug location at a weird angle... I digress... I've used this many times in the last year. I store it in the glove compartment when not in use and it still works well. (I am a person that believes if you take care of your equipment, it will last longer, so I don't shove it in there. I wrap it neatly.) It also has a USB connector on the top of the Aux plug that was a surprise. I totally recommend this product if you want to connect your media to your car and you don't drive a car that has that feature. It doesn't act as a "Handsfree connection" so don't buy this if that is what you need. It is really only to play your media through you car stereo (Ibooks, iPad, Music feature on my phone, etc...). It is simple, straightforward and easy to use. Durable enough if you treat it with care.
Cool product. I *HAD* a Jetta and it didn't come with a CD player, just a tape deck. Somebody snapped off my antenna (the car was a 2000 and this was 2002) so I couldn't even listen to the radio. This was perfect. I could put in my iPod or listen to pandora on my cell!
