  • Ok if you don't plan to use it every day

I bought this projector used a Pawnshop here in Cleveland Tenn. I only paid $**.**, it is **.** at Kohls. I liked that fact that it will project up to a 120" picture, which means at small sizes the picture should be even better. Same with a stereo with 100 watts per channel, it will have a better sound at lower volumes. This is not a projector you would use as main video source, great for kids room. I will get a higher quality projector for everyday use when I can afford it. TIP: When shopping for a projector, 3 things you want to look for: 1) Lumens the higher the Lumens the brighter the picture. (Lumens are Candle light power) this will help when watching in the day time. 2) The maximum screen projection size. This will give you a higher quality picture when showing at a smaller screen size. 3) Features: you want to find one with features that you can use for other things: Computer, Games USB port, SD slot, HDMI, VGA, and RCA These tips are to help you get more for your money and projectors with all these features do not add a lot to the price, (The BRAND is what adds to the cost) Another tip: If you find a projector at a fair price, and you think it may be made cheap, find out if it is made by a quality brand co. (Ex: Panasonic makes Technics, Black and Decker make Quickset deadbolt locks, Whirlpool makes Kenmore. At Radio Shack, their Optimus stereos were made by Pioneer and RCA. I hope I this info will help you. As far as the Shift 3 projector, see if it is safe to a slighter higher wattage bulb, I would not go higher than 75 watts. A TIP for a cheap movie screen: go to Home Depot or Lowe's and buy a sheet of the GLOSSY paneling that you would put in your bath room, put some black duct tape around the edges that hide screws if you wanted to hang it on a wall, and it will look like a real movie screen. The same goes for projectors, if it made my a Big Brand Co. it will work well.

  • Defected

I'm sure the quality is just fine. I didn't get a chance to truly see it though, seeing as minutes after turning it on I discovered that the buttons all controlled the wrong function- volume controls are just fine, but "color" button controls contrast, and the contrast button is the worst. The button that should increase contrast just controls volume again, and the one that should decrease contrast decreases color. There is no way for me to increase the color now, and I can not do anything with it now. Furious.

you get what you pay for; very poor quality. It was hard to actually make out the pictures and very blurry that it was hard to focus in on

  • Great projector for our needs
    Verified Purchase

I had ordered this projector for a backyard party for my son's 16th birthday. We put up 3 - 4x8 sheets of plywood covered with a couple of king-sized white sheets, against the privacy fence. As soon as it was dark we started the movie. The kids loved it! The eight adults helping out loved it! In fact, after the party ended at midnight, several adults still hung out on the deck with popcorn and snacks and we watched "Harry and the Hendersons"! The clarity of the picture wasn't bad at all for our intended use of the projector. We did hook up a stereo speaker system to it, but the sound from the projector would have been fine if we hadn't had so many people. We plan on having occasional out-door family movie nights from here on out. It just made it so fun! I'm glad I purchased the projector and appreciate the reviews of others that had also bought it.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"I had just bought one for my father in law and we plugged it into a surge protector and it burnt up. Where can I get another circuit board for the light blast."

    • A:

Hello jayborja3, If you just purchased this from us this has a 30 day warranty and we would be able to help you. I do not know where you could purchase replacement parts for this item. Thank you for shopping with us!

  • Q:

"Hello,I just bought this product.I would like to connect with laptop.I even bought VGA to RCA RCB male cable connector but still it does not work. Can anyone help me if red blue green cable connects to red yellow while input in projector"

    • A:

I would recommend reading the instructions. We are sold out of the item so we do not have any instructions to read.

    • A:

"Component" video with rgb (red/green/blue) colored cables is a High Definition (each color has a separate signal) analog standard and often has 5 connectors (3 for video--designated Y/Pr/Pb--and two for audio--the red and white ones) while the "Composite" has a combined video signal into a single yellow cable, so the signal is not as clear. S-Video (sometimes called S-VHS) has a completely different cable with tiny pins in the outlet connector instead of the RCA cables you have and caries two separate video signals, so it's usually somewhat intermediate between the composite and component. What I imagine you're doing is confusing the three rgb-colored cables you have for the three (yellow video and red & white audio) connectors on the projector. This device cannot accept the 3-cable component video input, so you may have to get a component to composite converter for your existing cable (or a VGA to composite converter.) I don't believe you can simply use a cable adapter to accomplish this. To test if the projector outlet is working, you could try plugging your green cable into the yellow one to see if there's a video signal. You could also just try plugging the yellow cable that comes with the projector into the yellow outlet of another device (DVD player, etc.) to see if there's a signal. (You may have to unplug any other out-going cables from the device, since the presence of another video cable may disconnect any signal to the yellow composite video cable.) Just a thought...

  • Q:

"How do I connect projector to XBOX 360 and PS3?"

    • A:

The projector connects to the game console through Audio Video cables

  • Q:

"Does it project what is being viewed on my TV? For example, My TV has CC (Close Caption) Will it show up through the Projector?"

    • A:

Unfortunately, at present, this item is presently out of stock. We currently do not have inventory to check, and cannot guarantee the item will be restocked. Please feel free to check back with us periodically to see if the item has returned.

    • A:

this projector is a display device, as is a TV it will display whatever the source provides it, if you have a source that provides closed captioning then the projector will display closed captioning.

  • Q:

    "Can the bulb be upgraded?"

    • A:

      No, it cannot.

    • A:

Depends on what you mean by "upgraded". Many owners report replacing the bulb, which is pretty unreliable and burns out quickly, sometimes on the first use, so perhaps any bulb replacement would constitute an upgrade. Fortunately, replacement halogen 50W MR-16 bulbs are cheap. If you're talking about LED bulbs, that's another story completely. I haven't tried it, but LED bulbs use less power, so the standard transformer may not work. I suppose it's possible, but remember, if you burn out the projector, there's absolutely no support from the manufacturer, as they stopped selling these--and indeed all projectors--some years back. So, you'd be taking a chance with an LED bulb.

  • Q:

"Can it be connected to an old vcr player?"

    • A:

If the VCR has the necessary A/V outputs (red, white and yellow jacks), then it should work.

  • Q:

"I have seen a comment like, VGA to RCA Component Cable will work for connecting Laptop to this Projector, however the color code of this cable (Item # 11291971) is Red, Green and Blue, but the projector having input for Red, White and Yellow. Will this work ? If yes, How should I connect my cable ( Which color on cable to which color on projecotr) ?"

    • A:

No, you would need the same cable (with like colors) for this item.

  • Q:

"How many lumens the lamp has?"

    • A:

This item does not have a lamp. It comes with a Standard 50W/12V MR-16 halogen bulb.

  • Q:

"Can this product be used along with a laptop?"

    • A:

The projector connects via A/V input. You will likely need a VGA to RCA Component Cable we have several available on site. You can find one under Item # 11291971.

  • Q:

"what is the time of the lamp life ? in hours please?"

    • A:

The lamp life has never been tested. However, if the lamp dies out eventually, they can easily be replaced similar to any other lightbulb. They’re available at most hardware stores.
