I love to write a review on this scanner, but after loading the software and following the steps, when I got to the 2nd step it was a no go, as the scanner would not come on. Yes I could not even turn it on, and Yes I did move to different outlet, pull the cable in and out ,check to see that I do have power and most of all I did turn the power switch on & off many time but still not power to the unit. I called the support and they were very helpful and they are going to send me a to replacement. I hope that I will be able to use the next one so that I can write a review on it's features.
I like the size of it... it's versatility, it's durability. Yes I know Epson has Scanners and Printers all in one...nevertheless I was a photographer for over 60, years, and I still prefer prefer a stand alone scanner.
Scanning my boat-load of 35mm film negatives to digital has been on my "wish list" for a long time. So when I retired, it was first on my list to start doing. I did a bunch of reading and decided to go with this scanner for multiple reasons. First it can do multiple scans at one time. Second it has a lot of automatic features to do the work for you. Third was an attractive price. Yes, there are models above this, but would I really use those features. When is good enough, good enough. I was not looking for "perfection" and not going to sell any of my scans in an art feast. After doing my research, and talking to a friend whose a photo guru, this seems like the best pick. It was not a hard setup, and the worst issue was realizing to REMOVE the part under the lid for scanning 35mm negatives (the instructions weren't fully clear on that). It took about a day to figure out the best settings to use on scanning my negatives and I am very pleased with the results. This will keep my busy for years. Other options were scanners that were made for only scanning 35mm negatives, but they did this one frame at a time - not a great way if you have many to do. You have to take the time to figure out how you are going to use the scanner to make your decision. The Internet is great for information, but also it can be information overload. So after taking time to really think it through, the Epson came in as the winner and has been rated as a top performer.
