I own many tablets including an Android Motorola XOOM, an ASUS Nexus 7, a Samsung Nexus 10, an ASUS 700TF-CR with keyboard, a Mobiltab, an older windows 7 tablet the ACER Icona Tab W500, an ipad 3rd generation with Retnia display, and 3 laptops, and 2 desktops (laptops are Dell, 1 Dell desktop and 1 HP desktop). I also have WACOM cintiqu tablets which I use to digital photography and digital design work. Whew, that's a bunch of tech gear, but I love my tech gear and I use many of the items during my week. This tablet, the Samsung ATIV, Smart PC caught my eye prior to its release. The pre-release reviews and specifications were amazing. Of course, I felt inclined to order the ATIV because of it's power, performance and flexibility. The ATIV runs true window 8 (not the simpler RT windows version). Additionally, the ATIV has a solid memory and processor (i5, 4gb, ddr3, etc). My objective was simple, I wanted one device that I could take with me virtually anywhere that would have the power, speed and capability to run almost all of my applications. I do a lot of work with creative design, internet design, marketing, and business development. In the past, I have had to travel with several devices including one for my creative art design, one table to office processing, and sometimes I would carry a third smaller tablet just to browse the web and follow friends and colleagues on Facebook or Twitter. The Samsung ATIV accomplishes the majority of my personal, design, and business needs easily. It's design is a bit larger (wider) than most of my 10inch tablets, but the screen size is prefect for working with digital art and design projects. The resolution is nice (not as many pixels as the Nexus 10 or the ipad), but excellent overall. I can run all of my 'standard' windows applications, office applications, and most design applications without problems. The tablet also uses an integrated pen which I've been testing and it works well with all my standard desktop design apps. Of course you have a front and rear camera, blue tooth, wifi, and I have the physical keyboard (sold separately) which is nice when I have a lot of typing to do. (Note the keyboard does not extend the battery life, as with the ASUS 700 dock). Samsung has worked hard on this design. It is solid, well built and the ports are easily accessible. The separate keyboard attaches easily and when the unit is closed, it is very slim and very easy to carry. I will continue to test the device and update my review as needed. I am very happy that I purchased the Samsung ATIV tablet, and I am confident I will be able to consolidate (and sell) many of my other units which, now, fail in comparison to the Samsung ATIV. I would recommend this tablet to anyone interested in a portable, solid built, well equipped, tablet running full windows 8.
