This is a very powerful and feature-rich flash. It's power and feature set are superior to those of the Olympus FL-36 flash and approach those of the FL-50; yet it costs about 1/2 the price of the former and 1/4 that of the latter. It is a truly dedicated flash and it communicates flawlessly with my Olympus E-510 such that it knows the focal length of the lens as well as ISO, f-stop and shutter speeds in use. TTL exposures are spot on and the auto zoom immediately adjusts to focus the flash for the focal length of the lens, even as one zooms through multiple focal lengths. The built in diffuser works great to soften the light and also widens light output so that it can fully cover a 9mm lens (18mm equivalent in 35mm film or full format sensor). The only feature present in the Olympus flashes but lacking in the Rokinon is the ability to synch at shutter speeds faster than 1/180th sec. One other negative of the Rokinon is that its build quality does not match that of the Olympus flashes. Overall the Rokinon quality seems to be pretty good but the user has to be very careful with the battery door and diffuser, both of which are attached in a flimsy manner. Despite this one reservation, overall I feel that the strengths of the flash (price, power, features) far outweigh its weaknesses.

This flash works well in TTL and manual mode. It has more than enough power. The flash focus is synced perfectly to the Olympus 14-42mm SLR lens. It had to be set manually with the Olympus 50mm lens. The LED illumination works with a 5060 & 8080, but does not work with SLRs. It is not bright enough to be useful. The built in diffuser(s) work great.Unfortunately the focus mechanism in mine failed on the second day of a 3 week vacation. Now when I turn the unit on it makes continuous clicking noises and will not function.
