I have registered this product 6 time and cannot get rid of the pop-up at start. For this reason I may remove all soft ware and go to another printer. I have owned 5 Epson printers and until this annoyance I have been very happy with all of them.
Purchased this to replace a Photo 1400 that was only 3 years only that had stopped feeding paper properly. Although I don't do that much printing anymore, when I do, it is mostly 8-1/2 x 11 and larger. I like that the 1430 takes the same ink and is functionally about the same, although it seems a little faster. The print quality is excellent, as has been the quality on the last 4 Epson photo printers I have owned back into the late 90's. If anything, the quality seems to get incrementally better with each generation of printers. Each new one just doesn't seem to last as long as the previous one. (The first one I had lasted 12 years.)
I have used my Epson Artisan 1430 Inkjet Printer now for about 4 months. Besides it's quiet operation, I find the ink usage very good. I do a lot of color prints mostly 8 X 10 and the performance is excellent! I would buy another in a heart beat/
If your looking for a printer to print a picture that looks good by all means go ahead and buy that 3 color ink let printer, you know, the ones that everyone uses, If your looking for a printer that the pros use and have more control with 6 or more colors then look no further. I have been using Epson printers for as long as I can remember, as a matter of fact I still have one of my first Epson printers, my old 777 3 color printer and it still works great. If your like me you take pictures of your life, your kids, vacations and special times in your life that you want to have for ever. With Epson printers and Epson inks your pictures will last a lifetime. Whenever someone asks me what I recommend the answer is always Epson, but not just the printers and inks, if you want pictures that look like you had them done at a photo lab use everything Epson, right down to the Epson photo paper. Trust me when I say it's Epson all the way !!
