I have had wonderful experiences with this printer. Every time I turn it on it prints beautiful photographs. The print cartridges have lasted much longer than I had expected. I have found that the paper that produces the nicest photos is Premium and Ultra Premium Glossy. I have had decent results with Matte, and have not used satin finishes yet. I worried a little before purchasing it because of a couple of bad reviews, but mine has been wonderful. I recommend this printer for anyone who is tired of dealing with on-line printing services.
The scanner is great, but...if you have Office 2013, the Reader is not compatible. No warning is given in the packaging. Don't load it. The Epson Support site notes an update. I didn't try it--just uninstalled the Reader.
I owned the Epson R1800 printer for many years, but it finally required repair and was not worth the expense, especially considering the competitive price of this printer. It was a work-horse and I got my money's worth. I am a semi-retired newspaper publisher with more than 30 years experience as a photo journalist and wedding photographer. I have been waiting for a large-format wireless printer to come on the market and the Epson 1430 met my criteria. The one drawback is I was hoping it would be compatible with Apple's AirPlay, but that"s not a deal breaker as I can print from my iPad using Epson's app, and access the settings I need to create beautiful prints from the device. I have spent the last hour unpacking and setting up the printer on my home network. The install was 100 percent successful and my first print was from my iPad. So far, so good. The quality is outstanding on Epson Ultra Premium Glossy Paper and I would highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for excellent quality and ease of use. Off to a great start!
