I have hundreds of negatives, positives (slides) and photos that I would like to put on CDs or DVDs, or in albums, or even make 8 x 10 photos for framing. Also, many Ektachrome slides taken around 50 yiears ago have now deteriorated to almost a monochrome brownish-orange, not suitable for any use. I had a good film scanner (no photos), but it had no features like adjusting resolution or color restoration. When I changed from Windows XP to Windows 700 and Vista, it no longer worked. A friend told me that he bought an Epson V600 about a year earlier that would scan negatives, slides, and photos and that it had features like selecting resolution and color correction. After researching it and viewing comments, I ordered one. It had one defect in that there was a tiny white spot, apparently under the glass where it could not be reached to clean. Epson was very helpful in troubleshooting, and sent a replacement along with instructions to return the defective one. I tested it in all modes, including restoring the color on an Ektachrome slide, and I was very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend it to anyone. One addtional comment. When my friend recommended it, I researched it and noted the price had gone up something like 20%, maybe a little less. I decided to think it over, and the next day decided I would go ahead and order it. I found that the price had gone up overnight close to another 8% or so. It is still worth it, and it was just a little over 1/2 what I paid for my original scanner that had no editing featuires and would not scan photos.
After 1000's of prints, over 8+ yrs.(!!), my PHOTO R340 Printer, ejected its last print. I've wanted a 'large format' printer, for a while, and the Artisan 1430, is the perfect replacement. Test prints after set-up, were "outstanding"! If you're looking for a 'large format' printer, the Artisan 1430, will not disappoint!
The Epson Artisan 1430 has been printing excellent 8 1/2 x 11 prints. There were problems getting it set up to our WiFi. So we used the usb cable instead. Still need to learn to use more of the printers features......
It took a while for me to try this printer because I wanted to print only exceptional photos worthy of printing, ink cost, etc. I must say this printer printed out results that were far superior to what I viewed on my monitor. Results were sharp, clear & dazzling. This is not a copier & it doesn't fax; strictly a very high quality photo printer. I will be trying the 13" by 19" paper soon. Yes, I would recommend this printer. Mine even had Photoshop Elements 10 included.
