We have been very pleased with this printer. We use it for our screenprinting business which requires a heavy amount of black ink to print our artwork. This is a specialized printer which allows us to replace the color cartridges with black ones and all 6 cartridges are used to lay down a thick black layer that will not allow light to pass through. It has worked very well. We have not yet tried to print color on larger white paper, but are excited to have printer that prints pages bigger than standard letter or legal.
I bought this scanner because I wanted something that was in my price range and that could scan larger things, in particular I wanted 12x12 pages that I've scrapbooked to be able to scanned and printed so I have a smaller version. This allows me to get most of the page. I scanned 2x, getting most both sides. I've not tried to put them together yet, but working on the scanning part seems easy enough.
The 4x6 prints are stunning, my 12x12 scrapbook pages come out amazing! The ink was easy to install unlike my last printer. However, every time I use 81/2x11 photo paper it prints the whole page then tears it as it ejects it! I have tried setting changes and nothing helps. Otherwise this is a very good printer for the money! Especially if you print your own scrapbook papers!
I have an HP printer and have bought only HP toner for it. I've heard good and bad from people who've bought off-brand toners instead, and I use mine for business, so I don't want to take any chances. I'm not sure I really get 1500 pages from a cartridge (who actually counts?)--I might--, but I do always take it out of the machine near the end of its life when I see the print getting too light and rock it back and forth a number of times to more evenly redistribute the contents. That simple action easily buys me another 100 to 150+ copies. The cartridges are rather expensive (and the price varies considerably depending on where you purchase them), so I buy them online in two-packs to save money. All in all, the toner is a good product, and I know I have the real HP behind them should there ever be a concern or a problem.
