After using many other Epson printers, including a 3600 large format (which was used for almost 11 years, until it finally "Gave up the Ghost"). After some research and with trepidation bought the Artisan 1430 -Wow what results! I've printed photos from 4"x6", up to 11" x 17" all without a problem. Everyone of the prints has been excellent! I have also printed out several large 13 " x 19" POP jobs and was pleasantly surprised at their quality - I used a Glossy 24# stock that that the printer treated a photo-quality and gave me super results. If this level of quality keeps up I'll probably purchase several more Artisan printers. Epson, its a Homerun!
Pros: Photos are very, very nice. Large format is terrific. Cons: If you leave 11"x17" paper in upright tray, the corners starts to curl backwards because there is no support for the entire top of the paper. The "economy" print mode which equates to a draft mode designed to save you ink is worthless to me. The print is so light it's barely visible, so you need to always print in at least normal mode. Yet normal print mode prints too slow for me. The print preview screen is very poor quality with poor rendering. I recommend this printer as a photo printer due to its remarkable photo quality and capabilities. I don't recommend it as a regular everyday speedy printer.
I do a lot of layouts for doing machine embroidery and this machine is great at printing of these designs. Photo printing is excellent. My husband has always wanted the option of printing photos larger than 8 X 11 and is now able to do that without losing any of the quality.
