My case runs cooler now that I swapped the Power Supply. I discovered the cable plugs are not idiot proof. I needed to swap out one of the modular cables, and I couldn't see where I was plugging unless i removed all the cables in front. I thought they keyed the plug. I was off by one pin. The clip went into the hole. I pulled on it, and it wasn't coming off so I assumed the clips were working to hold it on. Power up, and no spars, but some bad smell. Took some time, but after removing all of the cables i found a burnt out cable. The plug is now bad, but the PS still works.
This is the 3rd EVGA 700B Bronze I have purchased for three separate computer builds. This thing is a work-horse. I would highly recommend it. I have it running in a Intel i7 4790 with a R9 390 video card and it runs great. I also have it in a HTPC unit with a Xeon processor and another R9 390 card. Both systems run flawlessly and have plenty of power.
When I received the item through the mail it was well packed, the package was not damaged and delivered on time, big plus in my book. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it was packaged all together and all the cables it came with. Overall, I am very happy with the power supply it does what it needs to for what I need it for. my system has a 460 watt pull so the eVGA 850 G2 should provide me with more than enough power and some room for future add-ons. I have had no issues with the unit thus far, under consistent use. eVGA quality assurance did a great job and the 10 year manufactures warranty is a big plus.
I bought this to protect my new 65" Samsung Curved 3D T.V. I live in South Florida where we get a lot of power dips. This keeps the power steady when Florida Power and Light cannot
