  • Attractive and gets the job done, but not the best

Here's the main problem: the speaker gives a faint buzzing noise when turned on. When you have music playing (from aux or bluetooth), the buzzing seems to go away (even between songs or when the music playing is silent I can't hear buzzing), but it's annoying when a playlist finishes and then the buzzing comes back. I don't know if this is how the speaker is or if this is a result of it shaking and bumping around too much during shipping. Pros: - Cheap (I bought mine for ~$65) - Attractive looking (looks exactly like the picture) - Bluetooth works well (works with my phone, tablet, friend's phone, still trying to figure out my computer but that's probably user error) - Comes with multiple cable adapters for different kinds of hookups (aux & RCA); cables are about 3' - Fills room with sound (not earth-shattering though, which I know some people look for in their speakers). It'll definitely suffice for listening to music while in the shower or cooking, having an indoor party, and background music for an outdoor party (if you have an outlet outdoors) Cons: - Seems cheap quality build. Very light, and the first one I ordered arrived completely smashed - Buzzing noise is very annoying. Doesn't interfere with music, but on a quieter music setting it might. It's mostly bothersome for me when an album or playlist finishes and then there's nothing playing but buzzing. I don't seem to notice it between songs. - Not fantastic sound quality, but in my opinion it's pretty good for the price. It's better quality than my phone (iphone 4) and computer (old macbook), but not as good as my headphones (bose) - Only inputs are bluetooth and aux. If you're looking for a quality speaker for a record player or home stereo, you should probably look elsewhere. - Bluetooth doesn't reach that far: if you're using your phone and walk into a different room, the music will stop I mostly use the speaker for listening to my records, most of which are scratched or messed up anyway so it's not like the speaker is dropping the sound quality. I've also used it for a party and had it connected to my phone via bluetooth. I think it's great for this function. If you want to have a loud dance party it's probably not going to get to your desired volume though. Overall I would recommend this product to someone who would be using it for the same functions that I'm using it for. I ordered this product based on the attractive price and the only review that was here at the time which rated it 5 stars. The shipping time was speedy (4 business days) but it arrived completely smashed. It was bad. The box was smashed, the control panel on the speaker was hanging off, the power adapter was smashed, and the base didn't screw into the tower correctly. I couldn't even use the speaker since I couldn't plug it in. This is probably mostly the fault of UPS, but whoever packed the speaker clearly did a terrible job, since the styrofoam was only protecting one side of the speaker and the rest of the styrofoam was all crumpled up at the bottom of the box. However, Overstock's customer service was fantastic and they knew exactly what to do (must be a common problem...). They sent me a new speaker no problem, which also arrived quickly (3 business days), and this one seems okay. The packaging job was still not great, styrofoam covered the corners and middle section, but clearly was only meant to provide basic protection. This is the one I'm referencing in the review, for all purposes I've ignored the non-working one.

  • Northwest Wireless Tower Speaker is a winner!

Classy design, solid construction and ease of use all contribute to making this a straight-on success. The bluetooth function works flawlessly and pairs up almost instantly with all of my bluetooth enabled devices, that includes my laptop, two tablets, and smart phone. The direct cable hook-up also accepted two of my portable, pocket sized mp3 players. I am going to use mine primarily in my RV in an outdoor setting, and I feel confident that it will meet all of my needs. It will be really nice to have continous music available with a set-up time of less than 5 minutes. Of course there is one shortcoming, however not serious and probably a good thing if you intend to use it in a public setting....She's not gonna give you crazy, outrageous volume. Not a blaster this one. To get the max volume, turn up the volume on the source device as high as it will go and then adjust the speaker volume to your desired level. This gets the level up adequately high for most situations. Of course there is always a trade-off, you might experience some distortion using this method. I would recommend that each owner experiment to find their own comfort level. All in all, This inexpensive and visibly attractive system gets five stars from me. I've seen others on the market, most much smaller and significantly more expensive and each time I see one, I'm even more satisfied that I have mine at home.
