My son has a gaming computer and needed a new monitor. This had high reviews, so we thought we would give it a shot. My son loves it and says it's even more than he needed.
Monitor and everything came as expected. Everything appears to be original packaging. One complaint is the shipment came in the product box. I was a little shocked they slapped a label on the LG box and sent it on it's way. Good way for the package to be stolen during transit...if I wasn't home when it was delivered this would have looked like I left a free screen on my porch for the taking. Needless to say, the box was beat up, torn apart (could see inside the box), and cannot be reused. Was lucky the screen itself wasn't damaged. Risks you take I suppose.
The USB connection to the monitor is finicky so I would definitely get the warranty. Other than that, it does the job and is lightweight and great for MS Office products/basic computing.
First off, this product arrived in no time flat, which impressed me. Shortly after receiving this product, which came in less than the time promised, an ant somehow managed to crawl in between the exterior surface of the screen and the layer below. I tried a few times to kind of coax the little fella out of there, but ended up accidentally crushing him in the process. I chatted Overstock's customer service (chat worked OK) about this. They apologized (as if the defect was their fault and not the mfr's -- LOL) and asked whether I wanted a refund or replacement. I requested a replacement, and the chat person told me I'd be getting a call in a day or so to arrange this. I did not get that call, and was expecting to have to ship the product back first in order to get a replacement. I waited for further instructions, and continued using my "buggy" monitor. What did I know when the replacement showed up about 2 days after logging my request! I was amazed at the speed of the service. And I still had the original monitor in my possession. Even *** with a 2 year warrantee, placed a hold on my credit card when I had to replace my previous monitor about 10 years ago. I was even more impressed with Overstock! I was SO impressed with all of this -- and the ease of which I sent back the damaged monitor -- that I wanted to write a G*L*O*W*I*N*G message to Overstock. Ironically, this was the point when I became very disappointed! When I went back to file a flattering note, the web page failed with some obscure error message. Luckily, I had saved the text to the cut buffer before submitting (knowing these things sometimes happen) and tried again. Failed the second time too. At first, I was a little bit frustrated that I could not find a way to complement Overstock on their (otherwise) excellent service and support. But, then, something occurred to me which upset me and made me wonder just how wonderful all of this really was: What if my experience had been something other than positive? How could I or anyone else tell them of a problem or issue? Sure, there's always the good old phone, but for a number of reasons, including my hearing, I prefer online communications these days. I began to worry what might happen to their other customers if they grew frustrated with some issue or problem. (I do not assume this would ever happen, based on my own experience, but you never know.) I'd like to suggest Overstock update the web page, partly to fix the feedback bug, and also to make it easier to find! Please note that I had not set up an account with Overstock, thinking that was optional, and feeling that I might not want to be added to one more database of names and personal info on the web (sorry, that's just the way it is in the 21st century). I didn't realize I'd have to create an account to offer feedback this way. Maybe that's just my own opinion of how I think things should work. Other than that, let me summarize: Great customer service, prompt attention to my issue, no questions asked (practically), and especially impressive honoring of product integrity. The new monitor seems to be better sealed than the original (no ants inside the screen so far LOL) and I am looking forward to years of trouble free service with this product. Yes, I would DEFINITELY recommend Overstock.com to anyone who asked. I plan to make future tech and other purchases with them in the future, assuming ongoing superb support like I've had.
