Although a little slow, the laptop is very good for browsing the Internet and listening to music. I've been trying to install Visual Studio 2015 Community to it but the installation takes an extremely long time. OpenOffice runs with it very well also.
I had initially ordered a Dell E4310, but after some mix-ups, a customer service rep offered to send me this one instead and cover the shipping and extra cost. I couldn't be happier with it. I should make a correction though - I recieved a T420, but the website lists me as having purchased the T410. I don't know what the differences are between the T420 and the T410, but where they're both refurbished with the same CPU, RAM and SSD, I'm sure the differences are subtle. Solid State Drives are definitely the best choice - my laptop boots incredibly fast, and loading programs or transferring files is a cinch. 6GB of RAM is also a huge upgrade from my old laptop. This ThinkPad is compatible with up to 8GB (2 x 4GB), which I'm strongly considering because of the nature of the programs I use daily. That being said, I have simultaneously used Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2013, IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate, Visual Paradigm, Chrome (with 10+ tabs open), and Microsoft Word, and I didn't have a single problem. No pausing or freezing, no "thrashing" (for those who know what that means, no nothing. The display isn't anything special: it's a 14 inch, 1366 x 768 resolution display (16:9 aspect ratio). It's an LED Backlit Anti-Glare display. So, it's definitely not meant to be used for entertainment (if that's what you're looking for, stop looking at business laptops). But it's certainly crisp enough to see my work and do anything I need to without thinking twice about it. I also like how adjustable the back light is; it can go super dim if I'm wanting to conserve battery, and it's brightest setting isn't blinding. If you want the full specs on the T420 (14.0 in), go here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd015734 For the T410 (14.1 in), go here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/migr-75387 Overall, it has been a beautiful experience. I love it for the portability, battery life, and reliable/fast performance. If that's what you're looking for, I absolutely recommend it as probably the best deal you'll find under $***. As a side note, Overstock customer service is impeccable. Don't be afraid to call if you need to!
I purchased the computer for my college age son. There are no visual scratches or any other blemishes although this is a refurbished piece of equipment. The only drawback is the battery does not last as long as I would like. I am disappointed that fully charged it only holds the charge for 4 hours, hence the 4 stars. My son hasn't had the computer very long, so I will update the review if any issues arise.
