I did not want to spend a lot of money, and I know that you only get what you pay for, but I have to tell you, this little tablet really hits the mark for everything I need in a tablet! It is fun to use, and I bought the mini memory card to go with it, so storage is not a problem. I use it everyday and have fun using it. Don't expect it to be a work horse with lightning fast speed. Just fun casual usage, without having to go to the laptop or desktop.
I wanted a laptop with a built-in CD/DVD drive and this was one of Lenovo's last models to include this feature. Initially I was put off that it wasn't a factory refurb, but from a company in New Jersey called Joy Systems, although my concerns were unnecessary. The laptop specs actually exceeded the listed specs, 1600x900 video, 16 GB ram, USB 3, etc. I did my homework and knew some of this ahead of time. The screen is flawless and battery life around 4 hours. YMMV. My only quibble is that instead of replacing worn parts (keyboard, track pad, palm rests) Joy Systems instead covered them with black, tactile contact paper. Initially I knew the keyboard was different (maybe a Chinese aftermarket part?), but it took a week to notice the stickers. The covering on the right palm rest didn't fit right and I called them for a replacement. When I peeled off the original...the plastic underneath looked brand new! I suspect the laptop shows wear somewhere, but am still highly pleased with my purchase.
First of all, it wouldn't connect to a wireless service. Right away I had to replace the wireless card. When my friend opened the computer to check it out, he discovered that it had only ONE GB of memory, not 2 GB as the product was described, not a huge problem as I was expanding the memory anyway. Be warned to make sure the product has all of the specs as advertised. If you aren't computer savvy, I recommend you have someone knowledgeable to help you check over it. Expect a multitude of automatic Windows updates and patches to download once you activate the OS. Mine installed over 200. I rated this a good deal overall, because Dell makes a quality product. After all, it is a USED laptop. You should expect to have to put a little more money into it for upgrades/replacements. The two problems I had with it were minor and easily fixed. So far, I'm very pleased with the computer's performance.
I purchased this laptop to replace a windows 7 machine and it has been a great replacement. Faster than former laptop with 12 GB of memory and streams video really well. Lacks an HDMI output, which is odd and unexpected, and battery life is predictably mediocre, but performance is otherwise very good. Can't tell that it's a referbished item.
