I never buy any other brand...got this for my lap top..as I have a great digital optical mouse for the desktop....compact, easy to use...easy storage for the usb chip so you don't loose it.....if you use lithium AA's will last a while as long as you turn it off when not in use....
I bought this keyboard specifically to help alleviate RSI symptoms in both wrists and palms. I wanted to get away from using a traditional mouse, and the built in trackpad offered that opportunity. Having used it now for some weeks this has been completely successful. As an added bonus the keyboard also offers a far superior experience to it's predecesor which was a Microsoft Natural Ergonomic 4000. Whilst it shares the split design of that device it executes it slightly differently presenting the keys a bit higher off the desk, and at a slightly different angle. The touch and feel of the keys are more substantial, with a positive action. The whole build quality of the device is substantial and high quality. My only (very minor) gripe or suggestion for improvement is that I have not been able to find a version with a UK layout, so I have to flip between UK and US layout in the OS to obtan certain symbols (mainly pound sterling). If a UK layout were available that would make the device perfect from my point of view. As it stands I would highly recommend this for users that suffer with similar symptoms to myself.
I was introduced to this general "type" of keyboard at a Med. Transcriptionists conference a few years ago. That keyboard was still different from this, but the woman who had it raved about it. When I found this one I had to try it out and OMG - the world of difference in ease of use and comfort was amazing - even from the first kinds of ergo boards. This one allows for the user to not only hold their hands in a much more natural overall position, but with the keys falling slightly downwards towards the back of the board, rather than upwards, everything is much more comfy. It didn't take long to get used to either. Once you get used to this keyboard style, you will not willingly go back to other boards.... they actually hurt you to use them. I have short fingers and still the number keys are not difficult to reach. Top notch keyboard no matter how you look at it. (When I have to use a laptop in another room or while on vacation - I take this keyboard with and just plug it in to that and wholla... I am a happy camper).
