I'm an artist, and I purchased this printer so that I could produce larger prints worthy of framing. I've only done half a dozen prints so far, but I've noticed a few things I like, and dislike. I LOVE the wireless feature. I put the printer on a rolling cart, and I just move it from place to place around the studio. The prints are very professional looking, and don't have that ink buildup that makes an inkjet print look cheap. I am having a problem with the top left corner snagging during the paper load, and getting a small smudge of black ink on the corner of the paper, but I trim my prints, so It's not an issue for me. Also, there was no sample pack of paper included as stated on the box. This seems to be an issue for a lot of people here. I contacted epson, and hope to be able to get a sample pack mailed to me. All in all, it's not a perfect printer, but It does exactly what I need, and does it well.
This is my second C88+ because I used some cheap paper in the other one and I screwed up the magic thingamajigs that kept it running. I checked with Epson and they gave me one great deal to replace my C88+. My First Epson printer ran for 10 years without a hitch and died of old age. So, this would be my third printer. The second one lasted 3.5 months before I screwed it up. I am very satisfied with Epson and the fact that they are so easy to do business with. I use only EOM cartridges and now will buy only quality paper for my unit. I think I have it installed correctly, but as with C88+ # 1 these units seem to be slow on the take off. This is something that I can live with, but it would be nice if it fired up right away. I use the unit sparingly so that may be why it takes a little time to start up. I will consider giving it a five star rating as I have it a little longer. The life span of my first unit (which should be on file) was what kept me with Epson and away from looking at other products. OH, I didn't read the tips on how to do this because they were after this invitation. Really!
I just recieved this printer 4 days ago and can tell this is a huge upgrade from my 1400 printer that just died last week. I like having the on buttons on top and having the wi-fi that works great. No more usb cord. So far it prints very good just like the 1400 but the 1430 seems to be a little better put together. I hope this will last longer than 3yrs cause I like Epson products. The reason for 4 stars is cause I just got the printer. Other than that I love it.
I have only had the printer for about a week. My first 30+ prints on 4x6 photo paper printed exceptionally well. I thought I had some artifact on the top left corner of the first few prints, but all f/u prints were fine so it could have been ink clearing. I bought mine at full price despite the current online $50 rebate. I didn't see the rebate until I had already picked it up. Decided to keep it so I would have an easy return if it was DOA. It wasn't. Pictures are of excellent quality. I can't say enough about how good they look. I printed an 11x17 print, showed my sister-in-law, she thought I'd had it printed out somewhere. When I told her it was the printer right near her she was amazed. I think the printer is exceptional. I am not likely to print out massive amounts of pictures but this allowse to do a few artistic type prints to hang around the house and makes it more likely that the pictures I take can and will be shared in the real world and not just in the convenient electronic mediums available to us today. When the power goes out, these pics will still be around. Hopefully (I live in Florida and hurricanes can put a hurtin' on you).
