I have had my Artisan 1430 for about 5 months. I have had other Epson printers because of the long print life but the pigment inks clogged the print head if left unused for vacation etc. So I bought the Artisan and love it. First thing I noticed that anything I printed on any surface looked to be the correct color no shifts on CDs or glossy, satin, or mat papers. This was 1000% better than the pigment printers. Also seems to print on more surfaces not needing special coating. Longevity of prints is outstanding; I put a print out on a screened in porch getting sun most of the day in Florida for 3 months and think I can maybe detect some possible fading. Everyone loves the vivid and accurate colors. Only complaint is this printer does not come in larger (17") format.
After using many other Epson printers, including a 3600 large format (which was used for almost 11 years, until it finally "Gave up the Ghost"). After some research and with trepidation bought the Artisan 1430 -Wow what results! I've printed photos from 4"x6", up to 11" x 17" all without a problem. Everyone of the prints has been excellent! I have also printed out several large 13 " x 19" POP jobs and was pleasantly surprised at their quality - I used a Glossy 24# stock that that the printer treated a photo-quality and gave me super results. If this level of quality keeps up I'll probably purchase several more Artisan printers. Epson, its a Homerun!
This is the perfect printer for my needs. One of my hobbies is stamp collecting, and I create specialized album pages for myself and others, and I often use pages up to 11" x 17". This machines handles them very nicely, especially since the straight-through paper path does not choke on heavy stock. The PrintCD feature is almost essential to me for many purposes, and is superior to any alternative, since many CD drives jam on paper labels. The icing on the cake is the wireless feature, since the unit is too large to fit on my desk with other equipment. I really like the high resolution of the images at large sizes. Another plus for me is that it uses the same ink cartridges my other large format printer uses, saving money on spares. The set-up was fast and simple, too. I love it.
