The refurbished price puts this amazing GPS in pretty much anybody's price range. First of all Garmin has the most intuitive interface of all of the major brands (I have owned them all) and this model's touchscreen is crystal clear and the touch screen is the best I have ever had in a GPS. What makes this GPS amazing is the built in dashcam which enables it to have lane departure warning and collision warning. I was skeptical how well those would work with just a single forward facing camera vs the fancy multiple cameras and radars some modern cars use but both work amazingly well. My first trip with it was from Nashville to Washington DC / Pennsylvania and back and it was everything I could have hoped for. The only reason it is getting four stars and not five is that twice over the thousands of miles I have traveled using it I have had it lock up twice. I only had to power it down and reboot it for it to work fine but one time it froze at a critical juncture in an urban area. I am not sure if the glitch has something to do with it being refurbished but I would still buy it again in a nano second. Best GPS I have ever owned!
I really like this Garmin GPS unit. I purchased this for three reasons: 1) lifetime map updates included in purchase price; 2) the dash cam; and 3) Bluetooth capability. I'd been looking at dash cams for a while, but hesitated to purchase one because it would be adding yet another device to my windshield. With a GPS unit, a satellite receiver, and SunPass already stuck to the window, I already had too many devices up there, I didn't want to add another. I'm more than satisfied with my purchase. The Garmin works perfectly, which didn't surprise me as this is the third one I've purchased and I've been satisfied with each. The lifetime map upgrades will save me money every year as I won't have to pay for annual map upgrades anymore. I needed Bluetooth for hands-free use of my cell, and the dash cam is almost a mandatory piece of equipment on the roads these days. There are a lot of crazies out there. I highly recommend the Garmin Drive Assist 50LMT. This refurbished item is, in my view, as good new. It came with a warranty and I purchased the extended warranty just in case. I don't think I'm going to need to use either, though. The unit works great and I'm very happy with the device and the service I received from Overstock.
When it first came I thought oh no, the screen is to small. I got it for my husband that doesn't have the best eye sight. But the screen works out great. Very clear, bright colors, the voice activation can be turned up as needed. It's very accurate, and I feel confident using it. I would recommend it.
My previous GPS was the Garmin Colorado which finally died so I wanted a top-notch replacement and this unit has not diappointed me. I have been practicing with it on local hikes but plan to use it on long multi-day trips in the Spring. There is a learning curve as with any GPS unit but with practice, it becomes quite easy to operate. I do recommend you buy a mini SD card to increase memory if you plan to download Garmin maps.
