I needed this mount to allow the small flat screen TV to be stored against the kitchen wall, but pulled out and swiveled to allow anybody working at the sink to see it. I measured carefuly, taking into consideration that the telescoping arm needed to allow the TV to be seen despite a set of standard kitchen wall cabinets in the way, and I ended up with about 1/2 inch clearance as to the wall side edge of the TV. A larger TV would not have worked so well. I had the cable TV installers place a cable outlet near the spot for the wall mount, which has eliiminated a lot of ugly cables, but I forgot that I would need some way to mount the cable TV box, but to date I have wedged the box up and behind the TV and against the mount, which seems to work just fine and hides the cable box to some extent. We can also swing the TV around to be viewed while seated at the kitched table, which is nice when everybody in the family has nothing to say to each other over dinnner.
my husband just had to have a tv in the bedroom, but I didn't want it to take up the limited surface space. this is the perfect answer. he installed it himself with no problems. he loves the set up.
