Not all that pleased with this one, the cost of the device comes with the expectation that you get something without major downsides. I can list some glaring ones. For starters, I have to restart my PC to get the software to recognize the scanner after being idle. This is incredibly inconvenient and a terrible failure on Fujitsu's part. This is with all the troubleshooting they recommend, which boils down to trying different USB ports, and reinstalling the software. A lot of the time documents get misaligned (Receipts in particular) and do not feed correctly, entering the scanner straight and falling into an angle. While the scanner software does correct and straighten documents scanned crooked, it only detects documents coming through the center of the feed tray and stops a scan prematurely if the receipt has fallen out of that sensors view. Keeping the document or receipt straight in the feed tray is very difficult, even with the guides. When feeding a document 14 inches or longer, the scanner quits scanning at the 14 inch mark and feeds the rest of the paper. The best fix I can come up with is tearing the original document to make two pages for one, and this makes the resulting PDF very confusing when the document contains print on both sides. Overall though, it is a huge improvement over your basic all-in-one printer. The thing that bugs me is that I paid this extraordinary price for a device that requires a lot of coddling. Will not purchase a Fujitsu next time!
I have hundreds of colored slides taken from the 1950’s thru the 80’s. I have long wanted to scan them to digital images. In the past, I purchased two different inexpensive slide scanners and returned them because the scanned slides needed a lot of time consuming color corrections and the negative scans were totally unacceptable. I purchased this Epson V600 prepared to be disappointed. I only purchased it because the reviews I read were very good and the dealer offered a total satisfaction 14-day return policy. Still, I was skeptical but had nothing to lose. I have about four hundred very old slides that were taken with Ektachrome that have over time developed an overall orange tint. I considered them lost. This scanner has the “Color Restoration option that does an amazing job of restoring the original colors in these slides. It is also the first scanner that I have used that does a very good job scanning negatives. There are features for the advanced user that I have not tried since the Auto Mode with its options satisfies all my expectations. I have now scanned over 300 slides. I cannot imagine a better product for the money and I am thrilled.
I am blown away by the quality of HiRes scanning. I have been scanning old family photos, and when I set the scanner to its highest scanning ability I have been able to print old grainy sepia tone images, which were originally 5 x 7 in size, to large format beautiful b/w images with great detail! I LOVE this scanner!
I've had scanners for years--back to the old hp SCSI Scanjet and Windows 3.1. Recently switched to a Mac and bought this because it was recommended for Macs but the software is ancient and not fully compatible with Mac OS X El Capitan. Very disappointing. There were other manufacturers' scanners I would have preferred because of features but eliminated them because they were not fully compatible with the lates Mac OS. Thought the Epson was. It "will" work, but not optimally. Have not tried all the features yet. I would recommend it to Windows users, maybe not for Mac users.
