I bought this scanner for its portability, because I wanted to scan family photos and documents at different locations. I set it up once at home to test it and get familiar with the software. I have used it twice, at a church and at a cousin's home. So far, I have been pleased with ease of use and the quality of the scans.

I bought this to scan old photos. It is less than intuitive. You have to download a lot of extraneous software in order to get the stuff you actually want, or do the drivers one at a time. And the scanning time, even using a USB 2.0 is slow. I have the latest drivers and everything.

    • Practically unusable with Windows 10

I used to love this scanner. I've had it for 4+ years with no problems. Now that I've upgraded to Windows 10 and installed the new drivers, the software barely works. It takes forever to load, to scan, and if I try to change any settings in the scan or preview dialogue windows it usually crashes completely. I've tried every solution I found online, including ones that weren't for this problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled so many times I lost count. All I can conclude is that the driver is bad. I really hope they aren't doing this on purpose to force us to buy new products... The hardware is in great shape, it would be a shame to have to get a new scanner but it's practically unusable as is... if they don't come out with a better driver, I will not be buying Epson in the future.

    • Great for scanning all my family photos!

Bought this to scan boxes of family photos. It goes pretty quick when I can scan 4-6 photos at a time. Tagging the photos, on the other hand is what is so time consuming.

I purchased the V370 Photo Scanner for the primary purpose of transferring a collection of 50+ year old slides to digital media while they were still in good shape. I was a bit skeptical about the units ability to capture the slides with good resolution and ability to deal with faded and color shifted Ektachrome slides. The Kodachrome slides had not aged appreciably. However, the sales person suggested that if I was not satisfied with the performance, I could return it. To make a long story short, it is not going back to the store. The V370 does everything I had needed done and more. The automatic color corrections for the Ektachrome slides, while not perfect, are perfectly acceptable. My only wish is that the cleverly designed slide/film strip adapter would hold more than 4 slides at a time, but I suspect the light source in the lid is the limiting factor. The V370 is well worth the cost and offers substantially more utility than a single purpose slide/film scanner.

    • Does not work with Windows 7

This may be an excellent scanner, but it does not work with the Windows 7, even though the install disk indicates that it should. I tried for 4 hours following instructions/downloads from support website and other suggested fixes found online and only became very frustrated. I returned the scanner the next day. It looks like the product might work fine for XP users, but who has XP anymore!

    • Great Scanner AND Customer Service/Support
      Reviewed at

Purchased this because I have a lot of images to scan and the recommendations were pretty stellar for this product and based on the price of the scanner. Please note I am reasonably"tech smart" and can solve most issues on my own. My system that is connected to the scanner is a Dell laptop running Windows 10/64 bit. Unpacked the scanner and went through the setup process with the CD provided. Unfortunately, the scanner would not "see" the laptop (or vice-versa) no matter what I tried. Went online to do some research and decided to uninstall/reinstall the software to see if I made a mistake following the set-up prompts. After everything was uninstalled went to the site to do a bit of research first. Then, while looking at the install CD I noticed it was for UP TO Windows 8...OMG...MAJOR DUH!!! Now I am searching on the Epson site for the W10 drivers because I am now well aware of my mistake. I decide to call Epson to see if I should do the W10 driver only or the W10 driver + CD software and if there was a sequence. I got a guy named Mike who was AWESOME!!! We installed the W10 driver only but were still getting the same error message. Tried different USB cords, etc. and the only way to get the scanner to work was through the MS Paint application. Then Mike suggests going into the HW configuration and under imaging there was the scanner and the laptop video camera. Disabled the camera and VOILA...everything works fine now. I am still experimenting with the scanner before I start on the massive photo scanning project but I will caution you. If you scan at the highest resolution is will take several minutes (4,000 dpi) to scan the image. I am looking forward to using this scanner on the project...I believe it will do very well.

Scans very well into jpg or pdf. Takes lots of time if you have several scans to do, as the program closes after each scan and has to be opened again for the next scan. It also doesn't allow for cropping to the size of the item you are scanning. It doesn't have a setting for scanning multiple pages into one document file. I am disappointed that it does not allow me to choose the folder and file name of the scanned item. It saves it as a number, then the file needs to be renamed and moved to the folder you want it in.

Bought this a few weeks ago to transfer my old slides to digital. I can't say enough about how well this works. I scan in the background while I'm doing my work and the scanner does its job seamlessly. I use some fairly high settings 4800 dpi and the image quality is excellent. I have been using a lot of my scanned images as my desktop background and it fills a 23" monitor nicely. For the fun of it, I also scanned negatives and it works great for that too (though I have so many slides to do, negatives will have to wait). I also checked it for scanning pictures and it works well for that also. Bottom line, this scanner is a great way to turn a negative into a positive. And, a positive still remains a positive. Highly recommend this scanner to anyone who is looking for an efficient and not too costly way to convert old slides and negatives into beautiful digital images.
