Fast and easy to install and set up. Printing quality is OUTSTANDING. However I had trouble finding proper drivers to print 11 x 17 paper and still have not found driver to print 12 x 18

I constantly have trouble with this thing. Today it started printing orange instead of black and everything is faded. I can never just set my profiles and hit print... NEVER.

...and still going strong. I'd change nothing in my review from then and will add that I've since printed a number of color photos, several as large as 11x17, and am very pleased with the results. My only suggestion is to reduce the resolution considerably for very small prints to avoid clipping the image at the edge if you don't want to lose what's there. A tremendous value in the photo printer world, I'd buy the 1430 again.

  • Quality Large Format Printer
    Reviewed at http://www.Epson.com

As a retired professional photographer, I appreciate quality prints. As someone who does a wide range of adventure travel, I like to be able to output large prints of my adventures for framing to hang about my home. While I have only printed four 13X19 and three 11X17prints since purchasing the Artisan 1430, they surpass those made by the competitor's large format printer it replaces -- no mean feat! While I notice that the saturation on a couple of the prints doesn't acheive the density of the same pictures printed off my Epson Stylus Photo 200 as 8x10s, I'm confident that is just a matter of tweaking settings. The difference is so slight, less discerning eyes may not detect it unless they saw the prints side by side. Install was quick and easy. I output through USB cable through a USB hub without any problems. It's a great printer at a great price.

  • Excellent printer.
    Reviewed at http://www.Epson.com

Easy to set up (be sure you have a temporary USB cable to set up the wireless feature), handsome design details (damped lid, nice), quiet operation, auto shutoff, very responsive in wireless mode. This printer is essentially similar to the Epson Stylus 1400 (with added wireless); the similarity is why I bought it. My 4 year old 1400 is slowly wearing down--it is very heavily used in our home business. Check out the reviews for the 1400 to get an idea of how well this printer design is liked. Now to the actual printing--this is one beautiful machine. I print many, many archival inkjet (Giclee-type prints) from scanned or photographed images of watercolor paintings with all sorts of wild colors to deal with on 140 lb high quality (ISO 9706) cold pressed watercolor and glossy photographic paper on my 1400. I use Photoshop CS5 to help with the color control. The prints are fabulous with excellent color. Images with large areas of very red and certain blue tones are a challenge--but so are those tones on my HP. The water-resistant characteristics of the Claria inks on soft fiber papers is disappointing. I will occasional get an errant drop of ink with my 1400 on a print ruining the print (the 1430 uses the same cartridges). I single feed most large sizes and occasionally have to give the heavy papers on my 1400 a little nudge to get it started. I mostly print 13x19s and 11 3/4 x 36, but also lots of 5x7s. The color is consistently great. Black and white photography not so great. It runs through lots of ink--be prepared (probably the only negative with this printer). Fortunately, there are frequent sales of 10-20% off in the office supply stores on the ink. Epson could do a better job with ink purchase coupons or just plain reduce the price. Overall, great printer, good industrial design, fairly priced with a generational reputation from the 1400 as a real work horse. To get a better wide format printer you will probably have to pay a lot more!

  • Not perfect, but worth the money
    Reviewed at http://www.Epson.com

I'm an artist, and I purchased this printer so that I could produce larger prints worthy of framing. I've only done half a dozen prints so far, but I've noticed a few things I like, and dislike. I LOVE the wireless feature. I put the printer on a rolling cart, and I just move it from place to place around the studio. The prints are very professional looking, and don't have that ink buildup that makes an inkjet print look cheap. I am having a problem with the top left corner snagging during the paper load, and getting a small smudge of black ink on the corner of the paper, but I trim my prints, so It's not an issue for me. Also, there was no sample pack of paper included as stated on the box. This seems to be an issue for a lot of people here. I contacted epson, and hope to be able to get a sample pack mailed to me. All in all, it's not a perfect printer, but It does exactly what I need, and does it well.

  • Great start
    Reviewed at http://www.Epson.com

I owned the Epson R1800 printer for many years, but it finally required repair and was not worth the expense, especially considering the competitive price of this printer. It was a work-horse and I got my money's worth. I am a semi-retired newspaper publisher with more than 30 years experience as a photo journalist and wedding photographer. I have been waiting for a large-format wireless printer to come on the market and the Epson 1430 met my criteria. The one drawback is I was hoping it would be compatible with Apple's AirPlay, but that"s not a deal breaker as I can print from my iPad using Epson's app, and access the settings I need to create beautiful prints from the device. I have spent the last hour unpacking and setting up the printer on my home network. The install was 100 percent successful and my first print was from my iPad. So far, so good. The quality is outstanding on Epson Ultra Premium Glossy Paper and I would highly recommend this printer to anyone looking for excellent quality and ease of use. Off to a great start!

  • Paper type
    Reviewed at http://www.Epson.com

I have had my printer now for about a month. Paper type seems to be a big factor. I tried using hemp paper to begin with and found that the colors were faint and faded. ( I would suggest to test a few different paper types out as well as settings to find what works for you before investing in one paper type) I found too that after a few adjustments with contrast as well as trying a natural white paper the print turned out much better! Side note: keep your printer covered when not using to avoid dust settling on the top and in your piece of equipment.
