The computer itself is pretty good -- little slow, but overall mostly ok. However, the DVD drive arrived with the tray not working (the band that lets the tray open & close was missing - so the motor would run, but tray wouldn't open). No problem, contacted the seller to ask for a replacement part. I specified exactly what the problem was in my first contact with them. I received an email on Monday that said "we'd love to help you, but we need to know the exact nature of the problem." I replied with the information (and mentioned that I already told them what the problem was). They said ok, but I needed to fill out their forms & send them back. I did that, then 3 days pass with no news. I get an email, Ok they processed my request and will send me the part ASAP (it literally, not figuratively, said "ASAP") - it said they would send me an email when it ships. 2 days later I get the "shipped" email, only to find out it would take 1.5 weeks to get to me (longer than it took to ship me the computer!). Well, that sucks, but at least I'll get the part & I won't have to ship the computer back. I get home today and lo & behold - a package, I open it up and.....What the... Let me take a moment to explain. You see, I mentioned in my VERY FIRST email that this DVD drive is DVD+-RW DL Lightscribe capable. Do you know what they sent me as a replacement, internet? A DVD-ROM. For those of you who don't know, there's a HUGE difference between what those two drives can do. It's not a matter of speed, or quality, or something elitist like that. No, a DVD-ROM cannot burn DVD's or CD's. It can only read them. That's it. At this point, I am going to try to switch the bands to make the original work, because this is Baloney, if you know what I mean. EDIT: Can't switch the bands...wish me luck as I contact them again! Again, the rest of the computer SEEMS solid, albeit a little slow, but this makes me seriously regret buying from this particular seller and I really don't think I will again. If you read this whole thing, be forewarned!
2 of these were ordered on my recommendation. One for me and one by a good friend. His ran flawless from the time I opened the box and started setting it up and moving his data and apps over. Mine was not the same story. BUT the return process went easy and I now plan to order a replacement from Overstock shortly. I still gave a 3 star rating based on the fact that one is running perfect despite the fact that my friend has no PC skills and 5 grandkids are over every weekend using the PC
I am really enjoying my refurbished hard drive. It came promptly and was easy to hook up.I really like that it lays on the side and does not take up as much room as my other drive. For my personal computer these are very good and so much cheaper than the new ones.I would buy another one of the rebuilts for my computer needs. There really is not anything I do not like about the hard drive. I like windows 10.
I bought this just to act as a streaming device for TV off the web. I just wanted the minimum cost and just enough power for my purpose. It works OK. I connect it to the TV with VGA - the computer does not have an HDMI connector which is the commonest way to connect to a modern TV so you'd have to check whether your TV has a VGA port. It can process the TV picture full screen at HD quality. The mouse and keyboard appear to be brand new but they have the feel of cheap bargain basement - but work OK. However, even though the computer has dedicated mouse and keyboard sockets the ones supplied cannot use those and have to be plugged into the USB ports. That's OK for me as there are a lot of USB ports - but that might be an issue if you are planning to use the full compliment of USB ports for other uses.. The computer is small form factor so it takes half height cards. That was a problem for me and I could not transfer my old WiFi card. It does have an ethernet port for direct connection to a digital modem or router. Which I found necessary to use when trying to get a WiFi card to install correctly. And there are not a lot of card slots - see the spec. Windows 7 Professional is installed - there are no discs just a backup version on a partition. And it took about 3 hours after starting to get all the updates to System 7 installed from the Microsoft website. It looks used but is very clean. I think I am satisfied with my purchase so far.
