  • Really charges Alkaline batteries!
    Verified Purchase

I ordered this charger to get more life out of my alkaline "throw away" batteries. I am very pleased with the charger. It does charge the batteries as it claims. The more drained a used alkaline battery is the higher the recharge voltage. The charged voltage is somewhere around 1.39-1.54 volts. New batteries are between 1.6-1.65 volts. The recharged batteries will run most low drain devices and you can get multiple uses out of the "disposable batteries" which will ultimately save you money. Of course, the recharged batteries don't last as long as new alkaline batteries, but at the cost of new batteries these days, I can deal with changing the batteries more often. Recharged batteries work great in remotes, clocks, LED lights, low drain electronics, etc. For the high drain devices, the recharged batteries don't last but about 1/2 of the normal life cycle of a new alkaline. I recommend this charger to anyone who wants to save money on alkaline batteries. Very nice unit with digital LCD front panel that shows the status of the battery charge cycle. This charger will charge 4 batteries (AAA, AA, C, D) at a time, but only 1 9V at a time. Also charges NiCd and NiMh batteries. I think I need to order another one so I can charge more batteries at a time!

  • Must Have Product.

Need sort of a on/off button or auto shut off when charge is completed, beside that great to have on the house or office.

  • Good Product

Good product. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the fact that mine had one bay that did not work. I chose not to send it back, but to just keep it and use 3 slots.

  • Poor Quality. Charges a variety of battery sizes.

One station had a loose wire, kept going ON and OFF, then it broke. After 2 days, another wire broke on another station. Instead of paying for shipping to get another unit that may break, I fixed it myself and replaced the thin flimsy wires with thicker gauge wires. If you know how to solder, you can do it pretty easily. On the label at the bottom, it says to charge only "Rechargeable Alkalines." I went ahead anyways and charged a variety of disposable alkalines. Same result as my test many years ago, the batteries would not hold a charge anywhere near new, and they would leak. Why did I think this time would be different?? But I had to give it a try. The new Low-Discharge NIMH are a much better option, no risk of leaking. As for charging NiMH and NiCd, this is very versatile. The AAA, AA, C, D slots are individually controlled and will stop charging when it is full. One does have to use good batteries, as this does not appear to recognize the poor batteries, it continues to try and charge even though it cannot be charged anymore. With good batteries, it works well. The 9V charging station does not appear to have the microporcessor control, so one may need to monitor it carefully to prevent overcharging/heating. Versatile charger + bad quality = Fair Rating.

  • Great multi battery charger!
    Verified Purchase

This charger is extremely simple to use . There are no adjustments needed, other than flipping the switch to the type of batteries being recharged. I bought it along with a set of rechargeable D batteries. I recharged the D’s a few days after installing them on my elliptical machine. I then charged 4 AA batteries for my digital camera. The same day that I was charging my “rechargeable batteries”, the batteries on my thermostat went dead. I placed them in my new charger and was able to bring them back to life in no time at all. It feels great to start saving in such a short time. If you use batteries (I think everyone does) buy this charging unit. – You don’t even have to own rechargeable batteries to start saving some serious cash.
