I wanted something to take to meetings that was lightweight, durable, and not bulky. This fits the bill. Padding to protect the laptop is good. I keep my charging cords in the outside velcro pocket and that seems to work fine. If you are not lugging tons of stuff, the pocket for papers and extras are good too. If you want to carry a lot of stuff, this isn't your bag. But if you are like me, I carry a large-ish purse and just wanted something that would stand up to weather and make feel like a business person rather than a sherpa. This works.
My company owns five of these now after our latest purchase of one additional. With plenty of space to fit our test equipment - DTX1800s in their soft shells, a couple with Corning fiber termination packs additional - and plenty of pick-and-pull padding, we will be continuing to use these Pelican cases for years to come. These cases see a lot of travel, via shipping services as well as being lugged around in company pickups and brought onto construction sites, and none of them have seen any significant damage over the few years we've owned them. The latches do tend to feel a little more 'loose' after years of use, but that's to be expected, and they still hold just as well as they used to; there just isn't that new case resistance anymore. The soft cases for our equipment inside have seen more damage just through opening and closing than these hard cases have seen! I will definitely buy more of these when we need them.
I purchased this case with an eye towards cost but, as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. The carrying handles came off the first time I used it, the stitching where the handles are attached to the case coming completely undone. Fortunately, my netbook fell onto my bed and not the floor. Since it was so inexpensive, I didn't bother to return it. Instead, I am using it as a sleeve in my backpack and for that it works great.
