At 2800mAh these batteries should give me about 7% more run-time than Canons 1865mAh batteries. They also cost roughly 1/6th as much. In addition to more power and less money, I get the knowledge that the two batteries belong together. It has always been a best practice to never mix rechargeable batteries of different ages. This has something to do with the older battery not being as efficient as when it was new. When you buy a two-pack there is the highest likelihood that they left the factory together and are the same age. Buying them in singles from any but the best supplier could mean that one has been on the shelf for months if not years, and it's mate may be just in from the factory. I typically buy straight Canon gear, but this time I'm going with a pretty standard piece. They do not go directly into the camera as I use a battery-pack grip. This means if they were to malfunction in any way but to experience a spike (which is most unlikely at best) they cannot hurt the camera, just the grip which is far less expensive. The only reason I could not give five stars is because with batteries time is the only true test. Once I've owned them for ten years like my Canon batteries in my other camera, I can weigh in on that.
I bought the NEX 7 open box from Best Buy and found no charger in the box. At that time, I bought a charger made by DigiPower and cost $40. For the price I paid for this charger and have the flexibility to use it either at home or in the car is well worth it. I have charged the battery a few times thus far and has worked like a charm. I like how it is smaller than the DigiPower and the wall outlet prongs fold into the charger... not sticking out or attached to the charger via cord. While the charger needs to have a cord to connect to the 12V in the car, it is better than having a second charger.
I was so excited to find this battery especially with the bonus of the car charger that also works with a plug! These batteries are $45 at Best Buy and I got this one and the charger for under $10! Overstock Rocks! The battery charged right away and worked great with my camera!
The charger arrived in a timely manner. Charger is compact enough to fit in my camera case easily. It has dual features in that it will charge in your battery while driving or in your home plugged in a wall socket. Battery slips in and out of the charger easily yet the battery is held snugly while charging. Charger is also an outstanding value when compared to the one Canon sells at $40 or $50.
