My previous GPS was the Garmin Colorado which finally died so I wanted a top-notch replacement and this unit has not diappointed me. I have been practicing with it on local hikes but plan to use it on long multi-day trips in the Spring. There is a learning curve as with any GPS unit but with practice, it becomes quite easy to operate. I do recommend you buy a mini SD card to increase memory if you plan to download Garmin maps.
The refurbished price puts this amazing GPS in pretty much anybody's price range. First of all Garmin has the most intuitive interface of all of the major brands (I have owned them all) and this model's touchscreen is crystal clear and the touch screen is the best I have ever had in a GPS. What makes this GPS amazing is the built in dashcam which enables it to have lane departure warning and collision warning. I was skeptical how well those would work with just a single forward facing camera vs the fancy multiple cameras and radars some modern cars use but both work amazingly well. My first trip with it was from Nashville to Washington DC / Pennsylvania and back and it was everything I could have hoped for. The only reason it is getting four stars and not five is that twice over the thousands of miles I have traveled using it I have had it lock up twice. I only had to power it down and reboot it for it to work fine but one time it froze at a critical juncture in an urban area. I am not sure if the glitch has something to do with it being refurbished but I would still buy it again in a nano second. Best GPS I have ever owned!
