This is a fine screen, but it's not quite up to the level that I was hoping for with it's price tag. The backlight color temperature is uneven. It's most accurate on the left third of the screen, too yellow in the middle, and too blue on the right. I have tested two of these units and they exhibit the same behavior. The right side is also slightly dimmer than the rest (not due to their dynamic contrast). When viewing photos, this is harder to notice, but it's more obvious with solid colored windows. I suspect this is because ASUS is depending on the fewest number of LEDs possible to light the screen and the diffuser can't work miracles. There is also some noticeable bleed around the edges on both units I tested. Aside from the above deficiencies, the rest of the device is excellent. The color accuracy and gamut is great and the colors appear consistent when viewed from most angles. This is much better than a TN panel, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to live with the flaws I described above with a premium screen like this.Read More
I do not find any problems with back light bleeding through as some have noticed. When using the monitor in day to day it really is not even noticeable. Now if I try specifically to get a screen full of one color or medium toned background then I may notice a small amount of variation in light around the border.. I find no problems with backlighting at all. In the day to day use I never even think about it.. The clarity of the text is really quite impressive. One of the main reasons I bought this monitor was because of getting headaches from my other monitor after using it for long periods of times. I have found this monitor to be very clear and easy to read. The monitor does have an abundance of brightness and contrast. I had to back it down to about 75% instead of the 90 it comes set at from the factory. So there is plenty of brightness if you have it set up in a very light room. It has no flicker that I can see. I am running 2 monitors now. The pb278q as my main and an asus VE278h as second. Even when setting the pb278q at 1900 x 1080 it is still clearer than the VE278h.. I am very impressed with both monitors actually. I am running a 8500gt with 256mb video card. The PB on Dual-DVI and the other on vga. Besides being a little slow to refesh and load images the minimum duty card runs these monitors very well.. I nearly bought a well known competitor brand, but after reading a myriad of reviews I found the Asus was rated slightly better overall. And on top of that nearly $130 less expensive. I LOVE my PB278q. Wish I could afford to replace my VE278h with one.. But for now I have one very fine monitor and another very good monitor. Asus in my opinion is a serious contender for quality and reasonibly priced equipment. On top of all that it comes with a 3 year warranty and if you get one dead pixel they will replace it.. Using it with my 3d drawing program is so nice, so much more realestate and as I said, super clear.. much easier on the eyes.. Oh, and the stand.. Very nice, simple, strong, easy to adjust and looks good too.. On screen adjustment after you figure out how not to keep going back out of it works fine. Just be ready to tinker with it for a bit before you know exactly how to keep the adjustments to minimum steps. no biggy..Read More
Real Estate, Real Estate, Real Estate! It's all about the Desktop Real Estate! I bought 2 of these to run dual for an effective Desktop Real estate of 5120X1440 (2560X1440 X 2) I was running dual 24" @ 3840 X 1200 before these, but this is now just awesome! I did not realize how crappy my old Dell 2407's have become until I got these new PB278Q. I have no problems with the Monitors, 1 of them has a tiny red dead pixel, but amazing that it's only 1 considering each monitor has millions of pixels. The only problems I'm having are not the Monitors themselves, the problem is with DisplayPort, I purchased a new Video Card because my old Radeon 5450 only had 1 - DVI-DL + 1 HDMI + 1 VGA (BTW VGA is worthless, I don't know why they still put VGA on when nobody uses it anymore as it degrades picture quality) HDMI does NOT run 2560X1440 Resolution) I had to buy a new Radeon HD 7770 dual Mini DP ports. The Monitors don't come out of sleep, I have yet to REALLY figure out the freaking problem, cables, drivers, What? It does not happen if one monitor is connected to DVI-DL, only the DP connected Monitor(s) It's not the Monitors problem, it's DisplayPort. Google it, there are complaints all over about it, but I have yet to find a REAL solution as of 10-12-2013 I've only read a whole lot of BS about this problem.Read More
A bit pricy, but when you normally buy things at a store, you can't beat this price. No Shipping, No Tax. And it's often on sale for $** less then anywhere else. The screen is fantastic. I mostly bought it because of the combination of the amazing resolution and the adjustable stand. Crisp image. No bothering blinking lights. several outputs. and most importantly easy rotation, orientation and repositioning due to the stand it's mounted on. I can literally flip the screen and change orientation in 10 seconds. Comes in handy when coding. All that aside, there were absolutely no dead pixels and it came in the best packed package I have seem a screen shipped in before. If you are thinking about buying this and can not afford anything better you really do get your money's worth, and then some. I wish they had a 4K version. I would not mind spending the money for it.Read More
This Asus PB278Q 27" LED LCD Monitor is a great budget pick for anyone wanting a decent monitor for professional photography work. The color is great and I would say better than an NEC with a few years in it. Takes calibrations well. The problem with this is the sleep or standby sensor somehow doesn't detect when my 2012 17" macbook pro wakes up from sleep and won't come back on. This results in a very unpredictable pushing of the input button trying to get the laptop to see the display. Very annoying! Almost unacceptable actually. I've thought of throwing it out the window because of this problem. ASUS corresponded with me about the issue and said to RMA it. LOL. Cheap monitor problems.Read More

Bought two of these and they work perfectly. Takes some tweaking to get the colors consistent with my other apple monitors, but for the price, it's worth it.Read More

Questions & Answers
Great reviews from various websites such as Newegg.com, Amazon.com, and YouTube.com
Best screen for the price, same resolution as an Apple at half the price. I wish it had USB ports like the Dell, but for 100 dollars less I can't complain.
I am satisfied with all my purchases from Overstock. I will continue to future orders.
It had the best features for the money.
"Anyone know if this display would work alright with a MacBook Pro? It says supported platform is PC, but I'm assuming it doesn't really matter ?"
Being able to connect to non-Mac computers using DisplayPort, HDMI, VGA, and DVI.
