I purchased the battery holders for the Nikon D7000 and the D3100. Nikon makes a battery holder for the D7000 but not the D3100. I am a professional photographer and uses these cameras as back up and the D3100 for IR Infrared photography. REVIEW: Agfa Battery holder for the Nikon D3100 Would I recommend this unit, NO. First off, Nikon does not make its own battery holder for the D3100. I don’t know whether the malfunction is because the camera lacks the firmware to track the battery levels or this is a bad unit. The Agfa unit fits into the battery bay of the camera and there is room for 2 batteries in the battery holder. When the battery holder is installed there is no recognition that a battery holder is recognized with a “BP” (battery pack) next to the battery Icon on the LCD screen. I tested the unit for three weeks, on 3 different shoots. Each time after about 100 shots I get one of 2 messages; (1) insufficient charge or (2) Batteries are not recognized. It appears the “right battery” is depleted first. When I switch the left battery into the right-side bay it shoots about a 100 shots before the camera shuts down unable to trigger the shutter and display one of the two messages. However, when I place each of these “depleted” batteries in the D3100’s battery bay there is sufficient charge for another 400 shots each. I wanted to keep the unit because it gives the camera better balance but I returned the unit for refund.
