I have been using this remote for many years and love the many controls on this "clicker". I've not seen a more versatile clicker yet. That said, I keep waiting for a new model to address the main drawbacks: 1. Red laser. The laser is weak. The spot is difficult to see in large classrooms or at conferences, especially for colour blind people. If only this model came with a green laser! 2. Mouse. Finicky mouse controls makes it hard to operate in fine movements. It ends up being jerky. 3. User-friendly. Because of all the controls (which I would not trade), you can't simply hand the controller to someone presenting who has not used it before. They invariably start pressing the mouse controls at the top to advance their slide and have troubles finding the laser button. I know this pointer like the back of my hand, and love its functionality, but it's not immediately intuitive to others. Overall, I leave my fingers crossed that a green laser version comes out soon. I am going to an international conference this month (and teaching a big course this fall) and will need to find a second pointer for these big screens, which is unfortunate given the purpose of this remote.
It's a pretty good tool overall. The mouse is accurate, but it's range is more like 30-40 unobstructed. For use in the classroom though, it gets the job done.
Lone Star College uses several of these remotes. Never had a problem, except the occasional lost usb receiver. Faculty love the flexibility to stand in back of the classroom and have no problems with the range.
