The Dutailier Glider is a nice Nursey glider. It has smooth motion and is very comfortable. I have been using it every since I had my baby and it has been so comfy when feeding my baby.
I first got a similar dutailier chair exclusive to buy buy baby and liked it a lot. However, it did not recline, because I thought I didn't want it to. That was before I had my son and realized that not all babies take naps or go down to sleep easily...or at all. I've spent so much time wishing I could lean back with him in my lap and just be comfortable and doze off in those hours. I had to get a new chair, so I picked this one. It speaks highly of dutailier that I looked at every.single.reclining.rocker, even those over a grand, but came back to this brand. The quality is exceptional with a smooth glide, the recline mechanism is easy and smooth and quiet so as not to disturb my son, and it rocks while reclined!! It's the same color as my old rocker, a nice warm, variegated wool-like gray. And overstock's price and customer service could not be beat!! I also love the nursing ottoman after sticking my feet inside my old regular style ottoman to prop them. The only thing it's missing is pockets in the arm rest...I used the ones from my old chair (which was the 2-post style, not the sleigh), and they fit - an extra $* for the old chair well-spent /sarcasm. Oh well. Love this chair though! If only I had known what I know now and bought it in the first place.
After trying out many many many different gliders, we settled on the Dutailier Reclining Glider. This was the only one we tried that felt comfortable and the ability to glide while reclined is definitely worth the additional price to us. The nursing ottoman is also a nice touch. When the nursing stand is out, the ottoman is locked into position. This is also one of the few chairs we tried that has a high enough back to support my head (I'm 5'11"). My only quibble is that the arm pads are simply wrapped around and not actually attached to the chair's arms. It is just a minor annoyance, but it is impossible for me to keep them from spinning around while I'm in the chair. We haven't had the chair long enough to speak to it's durability, but so far it seems rugged. Only time will tell. As an extra anecdote, we looked at the cheaper Stork Craft and Shermag recliners too. There were a lot of negative reviews online in terms of quality, and when we tried them out in the store, we were able to witness those critiques first hand: glider didn't actually recline, squeaking, and broken wood. The Dutailier floor model worked perfectly.
Great deal on a wonderful first baby splurge. Decided to invest in Dutailier set on advice of my CPA, who never splurges on anything. She got one with her first baby as a gift for herself and 7 years later it is everyone's favorite seat in the living room. Had ours a few weeks now and I can see why, super comfy for me at 5ft 5 inches and my husband at 6ft 3 inches, cushion color just dark enough that it doesnt look like it will show a lot of dirt but its not so dark that its too brown. Planning to move it into nursery when we bought it but I think it might stay out in our living room for everyone to enjoy now! Same chair as one at Babys R US, much sturdier and better in person than those sold at Target or WalMart-- great deal and it shipped within 2 weeks.
