They're markers. They do what they're supposed to do, mark. They don't write as nicely as Sharpies, but they get the job done in a multitude of pretty colors.
I heard about these pencils from a coloring group I belong to. These pencils go down on paper smoothly. I love the combination of coloring and drawing pencils. The variety of colored pencils is good. The variety of drawing pencils is excellent. I was so excited to get these and try them out. The case is beautiful and vet well made. I like how many pencils it holds. This case I believe will last for a long time. The colors are superstructure into groups like ask the metallics, etc are together. I enjoyed them so week that when I was able to get another set on sale I ordered another one even though I didn't need them yet. I Am amazed at how well they shade, blend, etc and just great to color with in general. I Highly recommend these. The draw back is that There are not more colored pencis and more colors. This set has a wonderful line of drawing pencils which I don't use as much so I wish there could have been moored colored pencils. With this ask being said. I Would still get these again.
The box this kit comes in is cool. Inside there is a bottle of ink a bottle of cleaner and a smaller bottle of silver ink. There is a pen and 5 tips. There is a pad of slanted paper that measures 5" by 6". There is an old fashioned booklet inside BUT no step by step instructions .. this kit is NOT for a beginner. It is for someone that wants to give a gift or get supplies. For this much money I was counting on some sort of instructional manual. Don't be deceived by the modern pretty designs on the box. The small booklet looks like a reprint of speedballs 1950s alphabet book. I spent 4 times what I should have on this trusting the modern box calligraphy designs. Really bummed about this purchase.
