I've been crocheting for 15 years. I've tried every brand....I prefer a Boye shaped hook-- which these are. (Susan Bates just never really worked out well for me.) Anyway, these Tulip hooks are kinda pricey if you buy a set, so I've just been buying them as I've needed them. I pretty much only just G, H, I, J hooks anyway. (They're sold in metric sizes, so be sure to check. Basically, if you're like me-- you'll want the 4mm/4.5mm/5mm/5.5mm and possibly the 6mm. Hope this helps.
The Janome HD3000 is replacing my 45 year-old Singer. It's a dream to use. Sews straight. Easy to thread. Sews through thick Jean seams when hemming. Thread tension is perfect so far. Solid construction. GREAT price with 20% off coupon!!
I needed a large crochet hook (size N) and had to settle for Boye brand because they had no Susan Bates hooks at the stores. I hated that Boye hook! So I went online and ordered these hooks. I wasn't sure about acrylic hooks, I'd never used them before, but they aren't available in aluminum. Well, they work great! Way better than them crappy Boye hooks. I had to use the Bates size L to match the stitch size of the Boye size N hook, I wasn't about to pull out the dozen rows I'd already done with the stupid boye hook. I've always crocheted with Susan Bates hooks. The yarn glides on/off the hook effortlessly. There's just something about them Boye hooks that takes the joy out of crocheting. They don't grab the yarn and keep hold of it and its hard to pull the hook thru the stitch. I highly recommend the Susan Bates crochet hooks, all sizes and materials. I've been crocheting for years and I love the Susan Bates brand of crochet hooks!
Susan Bates hooks are so easy to use. The ends are actual hooks, not thick or oblong, which keep the yarn on the hook and help to keep my gauge correct and my stitches even. Circular hooks are not available in our area. Started using these hooks the day I received them. Was finally able to start a beautiful butterfly afghan (using the afghan stitch) that is too long for a regular sized double-ended afghan hook. The 40" hooks are more than long enough for very large projects.
