I use this product to make lace items on my embroidery machine. It is hefty which is vital for making good lace.

Must have been a packaging error here. Sold as heavy weight, but is actually medium weight. Still does its job, but you have to double up. Not such a price deal when you have to use twice as much.

Best thing I have found for stabilizing knit fabrics for hand embroidery. Very little puckering of lettering and design when I am finished sewing. Allows you not to worry about getting your stitches to tight while sewing.

I love this product. It's great for embroidering on terry cloth or other fabric with pile. Stabilizes the fabric and then washes away with ease.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"what is the difference between the 2 stablizers 408-12 and 486-12 other than price. It looks like the most expensive of 23.54 is yard smaller. Is there a weight difference?"

    • A:

The Super Solvy is used for monogramming, computerized embroidery, thread sketching, quilting, applique, lace work, bridging, buttonholes, 3-D work, edges, shadow work, cut work, hand-turned applique, and heirloom sewing and serging. The Ultra Solvy is used for hoopless embroidery, quilt patterns, lace work, buttonholes, edge work, thread sketching, 3-D embroidery designs, cut work, monogramming, spun lace, 3-D applique, and shadow work. The Ultra does come with about a foot less than the Super.
