    • Good Bang for $$ -- But Tilt Design Needs Help
      Verified Purchase

I purchased in an attempt to replicate a vintage drafting table for my office. The table itself is well constructed and true to color in person as it is on the website. All parts are included. Assembly went fairly smooth. I did it by myself, and it took about an hour. A second set of hands would have been useful but is not required if you have a decent working area. Here are some install pitfalls to avoid, and the reason I ranked 4 stars instead of 5 stars: 1. The black metal half pieces are thin and wimpy. 2. The black metal piece has SMALL holes drilled every so often. Do a zoom in the picture and you will see what I mean. Essentially this pre-determines the angles that table will tilt. 3. The most frustrating part -- the actual design of how everything gets assembled. As you can see zooming in on the picture, the wood legs have a slot cut out of them and the black piece slides through with room to spare. On the front & back side of the legs there are metal threaded inserts so the screws have a way of securing themselves. The "water faucet spigot" you see is just a glorified handle (great for hand tightening just like on a real water faucet) attached to a screw that passes through the front of the wood leg/metal insert, SMALL hole in black piece and then finally comes to a stop in the back of the wood leg/metal insert. The problem being to get the hole of the black piece lined up perfectly with the inserts so the screw goes through and tightens properly is harder than it looks. Mainly because you have no line of vision on the task at hand. During install, I apparently had it misaligned and pushed the metal inserts out of the leg and had to put them back in. Finally after a few tries I got it. The other side I used a flashlight and was extra careful to feel my way around to ensure proper alignment so I could get the screw tightened w/o the same problems. It worked. However, I don't want to mess with the tilt of the table because it's easy to misalign everything and cause problems. And in my case, I feel the one leg has "structural integrity" issues because of the inserts was pushed/ripped out and put back in. 4. There is a little wood piece you can add on to the top near the edge where you sit to help keep pencils, etc from rolling off while tilted. It's probably more for looks as the top has a grooved section that does the same thing w/o creating "speed bumps" for your wrists/arms. Plus in my case, one of the screws didn't properly tighten down so it's loose on one side. I haven't decided if I will fill the holes with filler and take that piece off, or drill a new hole and try for a more secure connection. ***TO OVERSTOCK OR THE MANUFACTURER -- USING A LONG SLOT VS MULTIPLE SMALL HOLES IN THE METAL PIECE WOULD ELIMINATE PROBLEMS #2 & #3*** Overall, I am still happy with the product. The product still offers a lot of bang for the buck, but with just a few minor tweaks could be much, much better in my opinion. Hopefully this review will help others avoid some of the problems I had.

    • Beautiful for the price!
      Verified Purchase

Extremely light weight table but has a presence. I wish it could go up and down. It stays stable but the board moves at different angles. I purchased an adjustable stool for it so that will work well. The wood is soft and light but good for my needs. Not a true professional drafting table but will work for crafting and small projects. Buy the 42 inch. It really is not that big. I think there is a smaller on offered. That one, in my opinion, is just too small.

    • It is serviceable
      Verified Purchase

I purchased this to do colored pencil drawing. Pros: The design is sturdy Wood add a nice touch to my office Well made, but I had to have a handyman put it together Cons: The height is not adjustable. So, if you tilt the table up, the front of the board goes way down, so your chair needs to be adjusted if you use the table on the tilt, or flat. The designers need to work on including blocks or something to raise the legs of the table.

    • Just what I wanted
      Verified Purchase

This antique style table is just what I was looking for. I read other reviews and decided to go with the larger size because people thought the smaller size was too small. This is perfect and looks great in my house. Also, assembly was no problem for me. There is additional assembly information on the manufacturer's website too. Compared to the prices of other styles of drafting tables, this is an amazing value.

    • Love this drafting table!

We bought two of these Vintage Drafting Tables and absolutely love them. they are a great and sturdy accent to our office. My boss couldn't believe how well they were made for the great price! Good job Studio Designs!

I am definitely glad I read other reviews and went with the 42 inch. It has a nice look to it and very sturdy for the price.

    • Great layout table for drafting room
      Verified Purchase

I bought three of these vintage style drafting tables for an industrial-style drafting room. My employees sit on modern office chairs as opposed to drafting stools, so the height is right for them to use these tables as a layout space. If they were sitting on drafting stools the tables would be too low. I bought them mainly for looks and am very happy with the nice wood finish, the industrial style detailing, and the great price.

    • Ehhh...it will do.
      Verified Purchase

As the title says...it will do. Not overly excited about it...but the up side is not overly disappointed with it. The instructions were a bit odd putting it together, just a set of three pictures, but after a couple of glances it went together smoothly with just a couple of bobbles. Pros Cant argue with the price. Went together in less than an hour. Not a bad looking little thing. Cons Man is it short...I had visions of standing and working on this thing but that will not happen till I figure out a way to add a few inches to the bottom (read the Overall dimensions!! I didn't pay that close of attention so I will freely admit to it being my error). Not the most sturdy thing but then again...for the price one should not complain. To sum up...it is a good looking thing but if you are planning to use it daily you might want to spend a bit more. If it is more of an decoration and occasional use...then I say go for it! As I sit here I keep glancing over my shoulder and see it under the lamp with covered in cook books and it does make me happy. So I will leave it with "It makes me content" which aint half bad!

I ordered this table online to save money- but was SO pleased by how it looks and functions I get to proud of myself for picking a bargain, too. Everyone who sees it thinks its an antique. I did have other people put it together- and it took 2 reasonably handy guys about an hour, but I am very happy with the commitment it took versus how great it looks. I've had it for 4 months and used it a lot- it functions well. Color is accurate, size is great.

This is a nice table. I would have given it 5 stars, the reason being that I had to buy a tap to rethread one of the locking bolts. It was a bit undersized enough to not allow the screw to enter. Otherwise it is a very nice desk.

    • exactly right!

I downsized and needed a drawing table which could double as a dinner table, and this fits the bill. It is very easy to adjust, easy to assemble, and very solid.

Very flimsy and not what I expected. Side turning mechanism broke off on day two. Very shaky, more of a decorative piece than useful for every day use.

I have had this table for quite some time now. It's extremely sturdy, functional and definitely has a vintage vibe. I get lots of compliments on it and my husband spends hours using it for drawing and various other projects. He added a clip on lamp on the back to provide better lighting.

    Questions & Answers

    • Q:

"I'd like to purchase a stool to go with this table. What would be the approximate lowest/highest height stool that would fit comfortably for drawing etc? Thanks!"

      • A:

Studio Designs recommends their Retro Stool to go with this drafting table. The stool can be found here: https://www.overstock.com/Crafts-Sewing/Studio-Designs-Retro-Stool/8784732/product.html?refccid=6VDH4XJFZCL256KOQJ6OGM5EGA&searchidx=1

    • Q:

"Hello: May I know the thickness and weight of the surface?(the drawing board) thickness means 1cm/6mm/8mm.... weight: weight of drawing board alone without the stand. thanks"

    • Q:

"Hi, I work mainly on 1 to 1.5 inch thick canvas which vary in size (some canvases are 45 by 45 inches or even 50 by 50 inches big). would this table be able to hold these sizes? and when using it at an 90 degree angle, would the pencil holder be able to hold my canvas and not let it slip out?"

      • A:

Since this table is 42X42, I think you will probably have issues with your larger canvases; that being said, the pencil holder is pretty well-defined on the table, and should have no problem holding a 1.5 inch canvas. I use this table a LOT, and I have no problems using it at mostly a 90 degree angle, mostly for drawing on paper, not canvas, but I do use it for painting as well when not using my easel. I hope this helps.

    • Q:

"Just received my desk, but haven't unpacked it. Can someone tell me how long it takes to assemble AND if I need to have any tools other than what might be provided? Thanks!"

      • A:

This table requires a screwdriver to assemble and should take approximately 30-45 mins. .

    • Q:

"Hi, can this table be folded up and pushed against a wall?"

      • A:

Yes. I store mine that way.

      • A:

Yes. You can see from the picture that the feet jut put a bit, but fits relatively snug against wall.

"I bought the 36" x 24" for my husband for Christmas and I'm thinking I should exchange it for this larger one. I can do that right?"

Hello ksgreen0656, this item is returnable. However, we cannot guarantee additional sizes will stay in stock. Thank you for shopping with us.

    • Q:

"Does this table tilt completely up and down so that you can put it against a wall? And if it does, I see that it would stick out a certain distance because of the feet on the legs. How far would this table stick out if you have it folded up and pushed completely against the wall? Thank you."
