Easy to sew on. Changing stitches is just a button away. Instructions are simple. Would recommend this machine.

This is a great machine, easy to use and sets up with little difficulty. Purchased for my wife to do the normal sewing activities. She is happy and so am I. Thanks.

  • Singer 7470 is Great!

I have used the Singer Confidence 7470 for about a year, and I couldn't be happier. The only issue I have had not resolved, and this is partly because I have chosen not to move forward with it, is the automatic needle threader. It worked great at first; then something happened to knock it off balance. I contaced Singer, who responded quickly and professionally; and they sent me a whole new threader assembly. The problem still exists, so something else if off kilter. But again, I have not done anything else to try to resolve the issue because it's so insignificent to me. I have had zero issues otherwise. No bobbin issues, no tension issues, no problem using any of the feet. The electronic features are great; they have made my sewing experience enjoyable. I previously used a very low end Singer model to learn to sew on; and this 7470 far surpasses that model. I have made apparel, including heavy fleece robes for my family, with excellent results. It's great for piecing in quilting, and can be used for lightweight quilting and smaller projects. I have used this to make quilted totes and get beautiful results. I made one tote out of upholstery, and this machine performed just fine. I do not think the machine is flimsy at all; it does not bounce at top speed and seems pretty heavy to me. I have never owned an older Singer model; and admittedly, I am looking for one for my most heavy duty projects. But for most general sewing and quilting, I think the 7470 is a great machine.

  • Singer 7470

This machine is nothing like my old, tried and true Singer. Thank heavens I kept the old one which is at least 45 years old. Granted the new one does some different stitches, but it's only fair in that category. The old one has some substance and you know you're working on a machine. This one is so light it's almost flimsy. Perhaps it's good for those people who do quilting, I don't know because I'm not a quilter, but I don't recommend it for those of us who do dressmaking. Keep your old machine...it's much better.

The new threading system in this machine is a huge time saver...with not having to constantly re-start the bobbin thread when you change upper spools, it makes it a very quick change. Since I use bobbin fill thread this is spectacular. The ability to combine stitches is limited to the decorator satin stitches and does not include straight stitch patterns (like vines or waves). I also have a Futura CE250 so between the two, I can really do what I need. I've used the 7470 to make a quilt and it did a great job.

My faithful sewing machine was 25 years old but was limited to old technology, so you can imagine how delighted when I finally make the decision to purchase the Singer Quantum 7470 Confidence sewing machine.
