This is a great buy for a basic sewing machine. Perfect for a beginner or those who just need a machine handy for this and that. Super easy to load the bobbin and the needle threading attachment is perfect for those of us who have a harder time seeing.
I'm really new to sewing with a machine, so I have so much to learn yet. So far, I've really enjoyed my CS6000i and its features. I like how easy it is to load the bobbin and thread the needle. The thread cutter on the left is great. It's so easy to change feet and select different stitches. The digital display tells me what foot I need for each stitch type. The speed control is also helpful since I like to go slower as a beginner and I can someday teach my daughter on slow speed. I think I will be able to grow in my skills and abilities over time and keep using this same machine for years.
This is my first machine since I purchased a Singer portable in 1955. I used a friend's and found it so easy to thread top and bobbin and very intuitive to use. I would recommend this machine to anyone -- just starting out or getting back to it after many years like me. I love the extra "bed" attachment that enlarges the working space and this machine came with many extras. It was a good bargain as well as giving me everything I could possible want in a sewing machine. I don't know if I'll use all of the different stitches available but I'll sure have fun trying.
At the time of this review I have owned this machine 6 months and have used it almost daily along side of my other machines. I purchased this machine specifically for the embroidery capability. The 70 designs and alphabet choices the machine is pre-loaded with are very nice options, especially for a beginner to practice with. It is very easy to upload your own embroidery file(s) and start embroidering immediately without a lot of hassle. You have the options of enlarging or shrinking your design as well as moving the placement of where to start in the hoop. I find that helpful because sometimes I have more than one design I'm combining and don't want to re-hoop the material. I also love the automatic threader. It works perfectly every time and is a very nice feature when you are doing a lot of color changes on your embroidery design. The touch screen is easy to navigate and manipulate with or without the stylus. It's a very quiet running machine compared to my other 2 machines I use. I am giving the machine 4 stars because sometimes the bobbin jams but the machine continues to sew the embroidery design. This messes up the design and you have to start all over if you don't catch it quickly. Sometimes the machine will prompt you that there is a bobbin issue and sometimes it doesn't. I've also had 3 incidents where the top thread does not sew with the correct tension (seems to get caught) and becomes taught which, in turn, pulls and bends the needle which will break. It is easy to take the embroidery attachment on and off to switch to and from regular sewing. I have used this machine for regular sewing projects and quilting projects as well. The throat is smaller than my other machines but fabric can still be manipulated for quilting. I am very happy with this machine and would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a new or an additional sewing/embroidery machine.
