The scissors are a good hefty weight. I am a clothes sewer as well as a quilter, and I need the shears to cut fabrics (blocks) that have been sewn together. They smoothly cut through the Seams, and leave my quilt pieces (blocks) in good "clean" condition. Yes, I can rotary cut them around the corners, but sometimes I like having the items in my hands to tweak the blocks. I also use them when cutting out wool fabrics for suits. The blades do beautifully in cutting through the denser strands of threads in suiting as well as coat weight woolen fabrics. Now, that being said, I also have a pair of these same scissors that I used, and still use, only to cut out pattern paper pieces. Expensive scissors to do this with, but they are, again, good blades and I use them happily in this process. I will order another pair next year for a spare. Happy sewing.
Absolutely love these. At first I was worried that I got a defective pair because there were a little tight when I would get to the point of the blades almost closing, but after a drop of oil they worked beautifully. I paid just as much for a different pair of a cheaper brand of scissors a year ago because Gingher scissors cost so much at big box stores and craft stores, really wish I would have checked Overstock then. Great price for a great item.
After 12 years of fantastic service and one resharpening I dropped them point down breaking one of the tips. Other than the gold coloring wearing ( I use them just about every day for counted cross stitch) they have been fantastic.
