I cut a lot of cardstock for my business and I've found that if I do not buy the titanium blades, I go through just as many replacement trimmer blades. While they don't last as long as I would like, they are a wonderful product that I will continue to use. I am also a fan of the high profile feature as they are much easier to grab a hold of, especially when you're making 200+ cuts per order.
I purchased the Marvy Uchida paper trimmer after studying cutters for about two months! I saw this product being used on a t.v. show called Scrapbook Memories and fell in love with how easy it looked to use. The one thing that hooked me was the various blades you can use with this trimmer. These special blades pop in and out with one turn! It comes with one straight blade, and I ordered a separate scalloped blade (wavy lines) and a scoring blade which makes perfect creases on paper. Though it looks light and cute--it's a sturdy trimmer in my humble opinion. I was able to cut heavy chipboard sheets with it using the straight blade with about two swipes! I think the price is fair for what you get with this and the extra blades are easy to find and order and are not expensive at all. It's a worthy purchase!
You'll need the We R Memories Keepers magnetic cutting pad for this trimmer to work well. However, the glued magnetic strips continue to come off as you move it on the mat. I don't use it much while scrapbooking - it's a pain to use. Buy the American Crafts Cutup trimmer instead. It costs more, but a better trimmer if you want decorative cuts.
