These pads can be used with acrylic paint or oil paint sticks to produce designs on cotton or silk fabrics. They can also be used with thinner artist papers by rubbing crayons or new pastel sticks over them to produce interesting designs.
These plates are O.K., I thought they would be more sturdy. A harder plastic. I feel in time and if used a great deal they could possibly split. The designs are so, so. Not thrilled, but not disappointed either.
I don't know of any product you could compare to Elizabeth Craft Designs Shimmer Sheetz. They can be used in many ways which just looking at them isn't obvious. They can be embossed, sanded, inked with Stazon ink or alcohol ink. You can also cut them with dies & run through a Sizzix Big Shot or other die-cutting machine. They make lovely embellishments for cards, scrapbook layouts or other craft projects. They come with two interior colors if you sand them after embossing. The ones in the "gem" collection have a silver lining while the Iris have a white. I love cutting & layering the new Elizabeth Craft Designs butterfly & flower dies from them. I was happy to see that Overstock was now carrying this product.
I purchased these rubbing plates to use with my Shiva Paintstiks to use on fabric. I found them to add awesome textural design to my fabric--this is my favorite set Overstock has offered!
