I wanted a less clunky easel to draw/paint at home - and this is just the right one! A little daunting to put together - but I did it. They just left off one instruction - and it's in the very beginning of the process. SO - make sure you slide the bar with the screw holes on ends THROUGH/IN the bar with the 2 'fingers' -- AHA! Also - one of the 'spacers' is not necessary really - b/c screw wouldn't 'catch' with it on. Rest was pretty easy. GO SLOW and READ and LOOK at diagrams! The ledge for pad/panel is deep. I think I will get stick or something to fill in the gap - otherwise, all good!
I thought from the description and picture that this was black and natural wood, it is actually all wood and the only "plastic" is the little screw knobs. It is, however, an excellent product, sturdy and well made. I would have given it a high score except that the directions to put it together were absymal. I figured it out, but had to take some of it apart and put it back another way because the directions are strictly through a very small picture which does not clearly show which way things went together. Finally went back to this website to look at it and that helped clear some of it up.
Love the easel, did not love putting it together s the directions left out what to do with two parts, one a heavy metal rod that fit in the base and the other a small thing I haven't figured out the use of. When It wouldn't stand up I found the use of the rod. Easel is nice and sturdy , not tippy which is what I wanted, and has good ways to adjust it.
