I'm only scratching the surface of what this machine can do, but I'm enjoying it already! There is a learning curve, but there are a lot of great tutorials on YouTube. I have cut vinyl for ornaments, fabric for an applique and small project, and paper for other crafts. The on-line program allowed me to cut the images I wanted without needing a specific die.
I had a die-cut & embossing machine already, but not all of my embossing folders & die cuts would fit into it. It was shaped like a purse. I think Sixxiz made it. Well I sell CTMH and our company began selling them. So I thought I'd better buy myself one that I could demonstrate. I love it. It is so easy to use too.
Nicely made machine by Sizzix; but.............Sizzix no longer makes the multipurpose cutting platform that used to come with all the Big Shot/Bigkick machines. I am a card maker/scrapbooker and that platform is essential. After much cussing and a very good YouTube video on the machines, I realized this fact and went searching for what I needed. You can either buy an extended platform, which has all you need or you can buy a thin die plate to enable machine to cut all die on the market. Why would Sizzix sell a machine to me without the basics I need to make my projects? I just don't understand it. So if you purchase this machine and have cutting the thinner dies, be aware you MUST buy the multipurpose platform or the additional platform in order to use it.
This is the first time I've ever purchased or used a die cutting machine. Set up was easy and the machine was not difficult to learn how to use. The instructions that come with the machine are limited, but the Silhouette website offers great tutorials and guidance. I suggest you also watch and learn from you tube videos before you begin. Happy crafting!!!
