I laughed as I was putting all of my tools, including my acrylic roller as shown on the box, in to this organizer because I don't know how it got past me. It allows me to have virtually all of my tools visible and accessible as I work. I have many other items I use on a regular basis such as a toothbrush (for "baked goods"), toothpicks, my cutting blades...I could go on and on but if you work with polymer clays you get the picture. It holds an incredible amount while taking up very little real estate at your workspace and it is extremely stable. I am able to see all of my tools at one time now and not have to dig thru my bins and boxes while working. If there was one tool I'd recommend for anyone starting in this media or who has been doing it for quite some time it would be this organizer. I wish I'd have gotten it when it first came out.
Smooth surface, but clay doesn't stick to it, which is great. It is a little slippery, though, and feels like it could be another 2 inches long or so. I was using a sawed-off wooden dowel, so it's definitely an improvement. But mysteriously, hairline cracks developed throughout the roller. It doesn't appear to impact the fuctionality, but it did concern me. It appears to scratch easily, so if you have other clay tools lying around, they may mark into it.
